Chaos,
I just explained that when Lego says he is using wireless, he means that's how his internet service works. It isn't a home wireless network.
Well, before I presume too much, actually he *could* be using both a wide area wireless network _and_ a local home wireless network... but my point is, any cat5 cable he runs is going to end up going onto a wireless link somewhere anyway! _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I just wanted to say:
This thread is irritating.
That is all.
(For clarification, someone had to say it. no offense intended.) _________________ #Brian Fioca

Not to mention that this is a thread for the GT Shard forums, not to say we are not associated with them (Ashtar is synonymous with awesomeness). This part of the forum is for feedback, whether for the GT community/site/happenings/etc.
EDIT: *Apalled to have spelled synonymous wrong.*

OK, here's some feedback.
Make sure that a link to the forums for the shard with the same name as our group is prominently displayed in an area of the website so people can figure out if they're on the right site or not.
Just a thought.

I have nothing to do with that shard, and I'm not sure if I feel like linking to them.
If people can't figure it out... /shrug

Marten wrote: | a'm: There was additional discussion on another forum before it came here, in which Lego did say such things But that's not important right now. Sometimes I get stuck in the details of who said what and when, and I get away from the actual problem and trying to solve it.
I have pieced together this information from Lego's postings spread far and wide, plus a little detective work. Lego: Please correct anything I've gotten wrong in this description!
Lego originally got a regular invitation (not a Kagi Key) but was unable to use D'mala reliably. He kept getting an AUTH RESPONSE FAILED error at somewhat random intervals while linking between Ages. Later, he got a Kagi key... and has been able to play on Slackers shard with that key
reliably, but still has an unreliable experience everywhere else that he has tried (including D'mala).
On D'mala, sometimes Lego is able to play for a little while before things crash out. is able to get to his Relto on D'mala. One time he got almost all the way through Teledahn before things stopped working... but after that, through repeated attempts he was unable to log back in at all.
Lego lives in rural Ontario and is on a high-speed wireless connection. Not a home wireless connection - it's a Residential Wireless Broadband Internet service, apparently offered through Kingston Online Services.
Here are links to where I got most of the above information:
D'ni Guild forums on June 14.
http://www.cyanworlds.com/cgi-bin/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000338
Uru Obsession on June 15:

(Note: The video posted on July 26 in this discussion thread is no longer available.)
DPWR.net on June 15:
http://www.dpwr.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3378
According to this discussion, around July 7 or so, Lego eventually got access to a Kagi Key from a friend. He was able to access the private Slackers shard with assistance.
Ubi forums on July 17 (one month later):

This is all correct except for that we are using a home network, one that my Mom set up herself, and doesn't want anything to knock off.
cat5 sounds interesting... I'll ask if my Mom or Dad has any cables (we have cables for everything)

Sorry.
This started as a thread to see if I needed to do anything special to get onto GT (like if it was like Slackers in that it is semi private). If you wish, we could take this somewhere else. We could do this at UO, at the new thread. No offense taken.
New thread at UruObession:

Thanks, that sounds better.
This is turning into a tech support thread. _________________ #Brian Fioca

Well I'm tired after working 3 hours of overtime this evening and I come home to see this <sigh>
LegoAddict: Please, contact me on the Great Tree shard forum at:
http://www.greattreeshard.org/forum/
I certainly don't want to impose on Brian or his forum for questions about the Great Tree shards. And perhaps when I've had a chance to think this over a bit when I'm in a better frame of mind, I'll have a proper response for Brian's message itself.

Oh, Ashtar... I didn't mean it the way it sounds... I just was too lazy to look up the link!
Also, I was just a tad bit annoyed at this thread. It had nothing to do with you, seriously. I love the Great Tree Shard! I've been a bit ornery lately _________________ #Brian Fioca

Ashtar:
Brian's never been interested in anything Uru not directly run by Cyan. That's just his way. At least he's been consistent by it.
That doesn't mean that other members of the Great Tree, such as myself, aren't greatly appreciative of your shard. I know you've spent a lot of your own money and effort in running it. It has been an invaluable resource to me personally, and it will certainly be necessary for filming portions of the Prologue video project, so I do believe that Brian is being a little short-sighted in his comment. *cough cough* _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

That's not it at all in this case.
::Points above Marten's post:: Total misunderstanding... I heart the Great Tree Shard!

S'ok Brian. As long as it was a misunderstanding, then I'm good with that That's why I wanted to wait before going off on a tangent, most likely putting my foot in my mouth. Not that I've EVER done that in the past (Haha)

I feel terrible! I totally see how that post could've been taken the wrong way. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
