Jaharen:

I'm also John II, and used the numerals for the same reason.

In case anyone else is curious, usually Jr is used when a name repeats in immediate succession. I.e., "William", "Charles (Sr)", "Charles (Jr)". The suffix "II" is typically used when the name skips a generation, such as "Thomas", "Chadwick", then "Thomas II".

But it gets worse. My last name is "Johns".

I still can't get over "John Johns"... I think it's great! Laughing (Hope I didn't offend you at Mysterium regarding this, Marten.)

Right now I got spared the name hand me downs. My dad is Herman Henry Ross III, and being the eldest in that line, I should have been Herman Henry Ross IV. My parents, being the loving sort that they are, decided they just couldn't do that to their firstborn son and named me Stephen instead (for which I'm eternally grateful).

The best part is, my dad's grandmother, the one married to Herman Sr., never forgave them. She took my folks entirely out of her will and never spoke to them again till the day she died, on account that they "broke the family line" and didn't name me next in order...

But from what I've heard, they didn't miss much, and I didn't end up HHR the Fourth, so I guess we all won in the end!

Right now, if you want to be scarred, go to Amazon.com and check out how many John Johns there are who've created wishlists there. (This is not a request for any purchases. For entertainment value only. Cash value 1/100 of 1 cent.)

There's even another JJ who got the name from his father. And that poor guy stuck with "Jr" as his suffix!

Right now, 100 of us should redeem it, and then combine our assets into a penny to spend on something we'll all enjoy!

Ok, I will admit that my suggestion was, as cuteoverload.com would put it, completely redonk.

Personally, I thought it was really funny. I was already coming up with a wish list for what we could buy with our penny. Very Happy

Thanks for the generous offer, but I think we'll build more character if we earn this.
