The debate over whether or not the expansion packs are canon or not has had some new canon info to chew over added to it.

(03/12 17:49:41) Douglas Sharper: I would assume one of you hooligans stole it. |
That journal of course appeared in the Exp-packs and only the exp-packs. Has Cyan now acknowledged that they are canon? |

Sounds like it. Sharper clearly acknowledged the second journal. I also get that impression from Cyan... especially from RAWA... though I couldn't point you to one specific quote that makes me think that.

At one point, Kodama (or was it Laxman?) was asked about K'veer, and he mead some comment about 'I'm sure you've all been there by now too'. A few people have taken that to mean that PotS (where you go to K'veer) is canon in some way. _________________ .yahvo kehnehn taigahntahv .taigahntahv bihv

*how* cannon, we don't know yet. I've been working off the assumption that they are pseudo-cannon. That is, don't assume anything in them *really* happened, until confirmed in cavern somehow. _________________

I was happy that he acknowledged the newer journal's existance, as that kind of solidifies some sort of canon. However, I think that the fact itself that they chose not to put the journal in MOUL might be saying that it isn't canon. |

I don't care what they say...it was canon for me. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Since this is the wonderful randomness forum...
The second journal contained notes about the spyroom, about the code to unlock the egg room, about all sorts of puzzles that probably aren't going to be implemented into Uru Live. It's probably missing for the sake of clarity, so that folks don't get horribly confused by clues to puzzles that don't exist anymore.
As for their relationship to canon, I don't think we'll see much change to the structure of the Ages from the x-packs, or much of their history. Kadish will (most likely) still be the deceiver. We'll probably also have to contend with the shell cloths. I could be totally wrong, but this seems like the most likely scenario, since it would mean that Cyan wouldn't have to retcon anything.
What we will probably end up seeing is a change in the way the Ages are implemented into Live. We may get some additional information and multi-player capability, but I don't think they'll nix the expansion packs in any unrealistic way. Things have changed in the past two or three years, after all. _________________ KI: 34353 |
