|
|
This thread will be a gathering place for all the questions we would like to put to the DRC every now and again. We will also put their answers as they become available. So, if you think of anything, post it here and I will add it to the list. I suggest each of us take one and bring it with us to a Town Hall meeting (or any other way we can get to them). One or two questions per meeting so we don't bombard them.
1) Does anyone in the DRC have any idea where Douglas Sharper kept the Great Tree Jackets?
Michael Engberg indicated that Sharper probably had them pretty well hidden but that he would look into it for us.
NOTE: It felt strange asking Michael this since Sharper was issuing these jackets to rally Explorers pretty much against the DRC. But, hey, who else can we ask? REMEMBER TO FOLLOW-UP.
2) What can you tell us about the Lake Light project?
Michael Engberg indicated that this was basically Victor Laxman's project. The project is basically concerned with raising the light level in the Cavern by working with the lake.
NOTE: I would like to know more about this. At our next GT meeting I think we should discuss this and decide if we should pursue more specific answers.
3) What does the DRC know about Phil Henderson?
First Kodama made a joke of this and then went on to speak seriously about the structural damage.
NOTE: As far as I'm concerned, neither of these answers is acceptable. REMEMBER TO FOLLOW UP.
4) How can the Explorers directly assist the DRC in the restoration of D'ni?
ANSWER PENDING
Post your questions here. I'll be adding more later that we don't have any answers to. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters.

I'm not sure if this is really what you had in mind, but I would love to hear from the DRC how explorers can actually help with the restoration efforts.
This may seem like a strange thing to ask about, but it's something I've been thinking about a lot lately, particularly in light of the results of some of the meetings. I kind of get the feeling the DRC either sees us as a hassle, like the Cavern might as well be filled with puppies given how destructive or accident prone we are, or that they feel they have to provide us with areas to play in, but we ourselves make no real contribution.
I don't think things should be this way. The Cavern is full of willing, able-bodied adults-- some with professional skills in fields directly related to aspects of the restoration-- who are itching to help get things going. I don't understand how "manpower" of all things could ever be an issue. Now, I realize funding is needed before starting projects no matter how much people want to help, so what anyone can do now is limited, but when/if funding comes back, I'm wondering how/if the DRC plans to put the explorers' skills to some actual use.
I don't actually think this is something that has ever been answered to my satisfaction. How does the DRC see itself working with explorers? How can we help? I confess that after all this time I'm not totally clear on what they have in mind. To put it bluntly: what will we actually be doing?

Anna,
I think we'll get more of that information from Cyan than from the DRC at this time. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Yeah, I suppose. I guess personally I'd be more interested in hearing it from the DRC from an In Cavern perspective, since it so affects any future relationship we might have with them and our view of them (and theirs of us,) but no big either way. It can be a for-Cyan question.

I think this is a good question, Annacat, and I will add it to the list.
This question actually dates back to the origins of the GT when we were not only looking for some straight answers to straight questions, but we also asked how we can directly impact the restoration of D'ni...pretty much for the reasons you stated. I would love to know what the DRC has to say about this. I'm sure they will point to the Great Zero project and the Lake Light project (sometime in the future) and leave it at that. But, we won't know for sure if we don't ask.
Marten, you're probably right about Cyan but I won't be asking them any questions as a member of the Great Tree. Doesn't mean I won't ask them as an individual. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Can we crack those crates in Teledahn? A few of them look like fishtanks, but the others... might be jackets? _________________ KI: 34353 |

I'm surprised nobody's thought of opening them yet. _________________ KI: 34353 |

I tried, but I didn't have any tools with me, and I couldn't get them open by kicking or jumping on them. They're very strong! It kind of slipped my mind after that, but I'm game to try again.

yeah, up to this point I haven't added "crowbar" to my usual list of backpack stuff.
I briefly toyed with the idea of shooting the lids off with that mining gun on the pier, but decided against it. Jackets don't do any goo dif they're riddled with bullet holes!
