Hey , I was just curious if there were any Browncoats out there?
I finally got around to seeing the film Serenity a few weeks ago and I loved it. So I watched it again, then I bought my own copy and watched it again. The Firefly box set is firmly on my Christmas list.
I remember watching a few episodes of Firefly on SciFi and enjoying it and hearing about Serenity and making the connection but it was always just in the background. Reading back over the history of the show the parallels to Uru are obvious. I've retroactively broke my heart over the failure of the networks to recognise Firefly/Serenity as something viable, possibly since I know exactly what it feels like, as we all do.
Anyway I was just curious if anyone else out there has seen the film or series , and if not recommend that you do!
Also I think this well known quote from Mal rings true with us Great Tree lot:

"Have no place I can be, since I found Serenity..."
I love Firefly! I love the combination of drama and humour.
I think we Uru folks should start saying "See you in the world!" like Firefly when we link.

I always thought he was saying "you can't take this guy from me."
Firefly owns. Serenity is cool too. I love the idea that there's similarity between that bunch and us.
I do aim to misbehave. _________________ #Brian Fioca

I've seen Serenity but have never seen Firefly, so I'm a little sad that I can't see the connection between our group and the group from the show. I'll just take your word for it, I guess. _________________

The series was much better than the movie, IMHO. The movie made me way, way too sad. I suppose those of you who saw the movie first had the luxury of not forming great attachments to certain characters before they were offed. ::weep::
But yes, I loved Firefly. Loved loved. _________________ ~Moiety Jean

I was referring to the similarity between the fan dedication. When the series was cancelled way back (before the first season had even finished airing) by network executive who just didn't "get it" t'was fan dedication that kept the idea alive. And it was the support of the diehard fans or "Browncoats" that eventually lead (in the opinion of many) to the movie. Sounds mighty familiar.
However, the crew of the Serenity being a group of people who fly outside the rules of the proud, I can kinda see a link there too. Except we don't rob banks... yet. |

...Yet indeed.
I do think that the characters have a bond and support each other as a group in a way that's sort of like the Great Tree dynamic. I'm not going to start assigning all of us to be characters or anything, but I think the friendship among them is like our group.

"Two by two, hands of blue. Two by two, hands of blue..."
*rocks*
I was actually thinking that, Daed. That's why I didn't assign characters; I knew I'd get the crazy one. Oh, and I can kill you with my brain...

My friend actually once said I reminded him of this character.
I took this quiz and got Kaylee Frye:
You are good at fixing things.
You are usually cheerful.
You appreciate being treated
with delicacy and specialness.
Well, ain't that special! :F (Does she kick a lot of butt? Because I like women with a lot of butt-kicking abilities.)

Woot, I'm Wash.
You are a pilot with a good if not silly sense of humor.
You take pride in your collection of toys.
You love your significant other. |
