I saw this mentioned through Erik's blog, off of MystCommunity's syndication.
http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/
Wow. I can see a lot of time and effort has gone into this. This is... wonderful. Superb.
Now I find myself hoping that others can provide Erik with other things that have been lost, such as the old DRC forums.... the DRC's posts are retained at the DRC forum website, but all of the explorer conversations from 2003 - 2004 are gone.
Wouldn't that be too cool for words? _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

That's a good question, Erik, as I was wondering about that, too
And if you look at this site e.g. the forums link doesn't work anymore, but the others still do... and I've looked into UO,
where you can find very old interesting threads and posts at that early period, also the forum of DPWR.Net has posts
going back to even 2002...etc...
But however, I of course looked through your wonderful website, too,
that's why I started looking around for what Marten was asking for
...and I have to say that this site is absolutely brilliant, Erik,
as dcos mentioned so nicely, an elegant informative site
and valuable recourse. Kudos!!! |

I'm thinking of taking the archive offline...
I've heard Tweek is rebuilding the Firemarble, and it will cover all URU's story, Prologue included. I guess it will possibly include all chatlogs, KI mails and nice story summaries. Knowing Tweek's reputation, I think it's going to be a wonderful archive as well as a great way to catch up with the story.
There probably won't be any need for me to keep the archive online. |

Why don't you at least wait until Tweek's is finished? He may end up being unable to do it due to time constraints, or something, and then the loss of yours would be even more regrettable. _________________ ~Moiety Jean

I agree with what MJ said.
Tweek has many different things he's working on. I'm not helping by asking him to come up with ideas for my projects either, but hey, he's a talented person _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Quite so, Erik your site is great.
Currently the firemarble does the following
1. overview of cavern events on the issue main page
2. day by day summery of events (mentions of KI messages and whats opened)
3. day by day details on new areas and collectables
4. day by day collection of transcripts
5. occasional interview with someone.
The new build of the site doesn't really stray from this but I am building back issues that extend all the way back to 2003.
So you'll have the summeries, whats new, transcripts for the last 4 years.
That leaves a lot in terms of archival work that isn't being worked on, so please don't feel you have to scrap the site I'd rather see it stay.
Out of interest I do happen to have the entire DRC site (sans the forums unfortunately) backed up to my Uru folder I was considering putting the site online in archive format (I am hoping I will be able to work on the DRC site and improve it) but I may just zip it and upload it for people to down load (or send you a copy if you want it).
But yeah time constraints are tight right now with Cyan stuff and the many projects I have taken on (I never learn).
@Mart
Yeah I should start charging _________________ Grey Skies | Beneath |

Thank you for your replies.

So be it!
And I assume you're talking about the old DRC website? I think I retrieved almost everything already with the aid of the Wayback Machine, that website was quite helpful.
A DRC website in archive format would be what the Wayback Machine is already accomplishing, however it would be more permanent of course. |

In the following months I'm planning on updating my archive a lot. Since the risk is there that the cavern may be closed for a long period, I want to archive as much as possible.
I also redesigned the whole website with fitting colours. (Gold = Guild of Archivers )
I also want to have things better structurised, easier to find. So if something is unclear, or if you think something could be done better, please tell me. Also if you see any English spelling or grammar errors, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me.
A few things are missing compared to the old version, but those should be back soon.

Oh, Erik, this looks so great!!! I should go there more often...
I love the warm golden color... At a first glance I found this
Quote: | This archive is unique in that it iss just an archive... |
And I'm not sure about "At this website" or "On this website" ( I love prepositions... cringe...)... |

Did some updates. I upped the font-size a bit. Personally, I like a smaller font-size more, but I noticed that many people in the community prefer bigger fonts.
I've also been working on setting up a system for transcripts... which is almost finished. I don't want to edit all chat-logs by hand of course, but I also don't want to post raw, unformatted logs that are a pain to read. So now I've just finished a script that will do it all for me.
I can now give the script a raw chat-log (with or without time stamps, doesn't matter) and tell the script which names should be highlighted, and then the script will make all names bold and highlight the specified names with different colours. It will also remove all PMs from the chat-log, unless they are from or to DRC members. The script also recognises emotes, and even highlights emotes when they should be. On top of all those things, the script still allows me to place editorial notes in transcripts without breaking everything.
I've just added all transcripts from May 22:
http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/communication/transcripts/sutherland-update/
http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/communication/transcripts/nick-negilahn-symbol
http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/communication/transcripts/peggy-sue-is-dead/
http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/communication/transcripts/wheelys-death/
http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/communication/transcripts/sutherland-statement/
While adding the logs, I noticed quite some errors at UO's CT that were made in the rush to be the first with the news... Spent a few hours tracing the times, which didn't seem right, until I finally noticed that sometimes UO listed the end times, instead of the start times.
And if you look here: http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=56&t=30353&st=0
There is a log from Mister Cloak appended to the wrong event. The log describes the events in the morning of Marie's first visit. This also means that one log is missing: the second conversation which Marie in which she also confirms the division symbol. So if you have a log of this, please send it to me!

Nice work, Erik. They're really easy to read in that format. Many thanks. I look forward to strolling through the revamped site and memory lane. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |
