Isn't it illegal to pick up hitchhikers, Marten? XD
OMG, we should soooooooo do that. I'd be up for it. But we need a bigger car to fit more GT'ers.
I think we should stay in the Castro district. That'd be fun, wouldn't it? _________________

This is starting to sound like an idea! Maybe we could rent a van! _________________ #Brian Fioca

Actually, there is a point on WA-14 heading eastbound beyond which it IS legal to pick up hitchhikers. I happen to live beyond that point _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I voted for Boston because 1.) I miss it, and 2.) unless my friends have all decided they hate me, I should be able to find a floor to crash on.
It was close between that and Williamsburg for me, though. I went there as a kid, and it was really fun.
LA sounds expensive, and it was just most recently on the West Coast.
So... yeah, I voted Boston, mostly for practical reasons, with some nostalgia thrown in.

I grew up in SoCal and my parents still live in a few hours of LA, so I chose that. |

And some of those choices... UGH! Orlando in the middle of the summer tourist season? No one could afford it! Texas in the middle of summer? We'd all melt!
San Jose. Close enough to SF to be interesting, but it's cheaper.
The idea of holding a west-coast annex is a good one. The Callahans group used to do that, when they did a regilar con. The 'main' con would move around, and there were a couple regional events that happened at the same time. I'm all for a yearly Seattle Mysterium, when the main Mysterium doesn't happen on the Left Coast, and I'd be happy to cat-herd for 2007.
The main Mysterium could have all the bells and whistles. We'd have a family reunion in the back yard with a BBQ _________________

It really makes life easier when Mysterium is in a less pricey location.
Spokane was great because besides being where Cyan is and therefore cool, the costs there are low because it's not such a huge tourist destination. Even though I'm about as far from Spokane as it's possible to be and still be on the same continent, it was a pretty economical vacation for me all things considered. Chicago, on the other hand, was tons of fun but although much closer nearly broke the bank for me. Everything there just cost so much! It would be really difficult to afford another trip that expensive this soon after.
All the options this year seem more on the pricey side. Boston is cheaper for me because of the lodging thing and my old college ID gets me in some places (like the Museum of Fine Arts) for free, but in general Boston is a pretty expensive city. (Although public transportation is reliable and cheap, which is a huge plus.) As far as I know, the other options are kind of pricey too.
That might make things a little difficult... but where there's a will there's a way, eh?

GTerium in San Fran? Hell yeah! Always wanted to go. Unless I'm on the trans-siberian railway to China (which is a possibility) I guess a wee trip to the US (turning 21 this Feb woot!) would be fuuuun |

Dang, looks like no one went for my Omaha idea. :ermm: Heh, maybe next year?
Honestly, I agree with everyone here - most of these places seem pricey. And moolah is something I'm very short on. It would be nice to be close to the border so I could take my dad's pickup (and sleep in the back? ), but yes, it is not so. I suppose I'll just have to wait to see where it's going to be. :whaat: *sigh* _________________ Beware the butterflies of DOOOOM! and exposition

Yessss.... come to San Jose!!
Oh, I was being serious.
SF would rock. Not too far a drive for me. Y'all gots to see the Gate if you haven't. I kind of see it as California's Arch of Kerath... only way bigger.
(San Jose has an awesome Japantown for anyone who loves sushi...) |

Man I have so many friends in the Bay Area.
And Y to sushi. Seriously.
Especially if it's conveyor belt sushi. Cheap and a total novelty. _________________ KI: 34353 |

I have tons of friends in the Bay Area too, so it's worth the trip to me. Amtrak has some ok group rates too, if there's 20+ people _________________

I'm severely liking the idea of GTerium to SF!
I voted LA for proximety, well, that and none of the other choices really interested me. I wouldn't mind going to Boston sometime, but not for a trip like this! The other options, I've either been there or don't care.
GT road trip, on the other hand, sounds like a blast! Even though I started out life in that part of the world, I've never gone back to explore when I was actually old enough to be interested in what's there... _________________
