The Liason system did not work. The reasons it didn't work was because of detractors in the community and the failure of the DRC to work out how the heek they wanted to use the Liasons.
Thats why we now have D'net www.dninetworks.net |

Ok, you keep mentioning the liasons and D'net. Trust me, I am well aware of their services and appreciate their work. I specifically did not suggest to Tweek that we use them (probably a mistake) because I was hoping to get a direct communication going with Cate. Clearly this did not work, because where there is Cate, there are people stomping on Cate, which makes Cate mad, and makes Cate not listen. A Town-Hall style meeting was not what I envisioned here, but in retrospect it would probably have worked better than the clamoring chaos we had. Things would have potentially gone much better if we had 1) chosen an event site with unlimited population, and 2) not had people constantly (and rudely) interrupting the conversation because they didn't agree with our cause.
I'm making it sound like I had a lot to do with organizing this thing. I didn't. Tweek gets all the credit for trying to make this happen. I wasn't sure I was actually going to attend until the night before. But I decided I liked the idea of a civil, but direct, communication of our concerns to Cate. Unfortunately, this old-school explorer is going to have to update her ways of thinking because the Cavern simply doesn't work that way anymore. _________________ ~Moiety Jean

Well... don't that just beat all.
Good for Michael. And frankly, good for Cate. I know she's not thrilled about this, but she's proven she's willing to compromise. And that makes me happy.

Although the forums are back it still doesn't address this:
Gathering on Wednesday wrote: |
Cate Alexander: The DRC rarely interated with the forums so there wasn't much communication.
Saxy: We need to think of a better way to speak freely and regularly with the DRC, then.
Cate Alexander: In the past that is what the forums have been though.
Saxy: But you have just said the DRC do not regularly visit the forums, is that correct?
JulyForToday: you could always restrict the use of the forums to DRC personnel only... then we could listen in on them, but it would remove any problematic discussions between explorers
Erik: Because the DRC had no funding the past years... thanks to you, they have now
Cate Alexander: And they still have not used the forums. |
Cate said the DRC rarely visit the forums and they aren't a good way to communicate with the DRC. I'm wondering if this is just Cate's opinion or if she has a point here. I don't remember the DRC ever posting anything in the open discussion forums, just in their private forum. _________________
