In general the basic guidelines are given by "The Great Tree"
and by its existence itself...
I think that suitable and competent candidates and future
Liaisons will furthermore realize the given situations and
know what to do... |

I really hope that the liaison people will be able to have a role when New Live goes public. If nothing else, they might be able to explain what the DRC is to all of the newcomers who've not only not taken the Journey, but haven't even started with Myst.
I think it would be fun to have more story participation, but I don't know if that's what the liaison people will do. It could very well be that they will themselves define their role.
I certainly hope that the liaison position, no matter who is elected, becomes something other than a glorified theatre usher. The lack of direction on this from Cyan probably has something to do with them having so much to do that they're all like one-armed women juggling wildcats. First, get the game out the door. Then work on the details. |

Well kids, it the last day to vote for the Liaison elections, if you haven't already. Polls close 1 pm GMT Oct 28th, which is, what, like 5 am PDT and slightly later for the right-coasters. Go to UruVote to place your ballot!
Good luck to our TGT buddies that are candidates!

It's the exact same people! Yay!
Oh and Prof, you seem to be next in line, if any of the liaisons decides to not run for re-election next time. _________________ KI: 34353 |

Assuming the DRCL elections go on for a long time, do you ever think the election committee will need to regulate the number of terms one representative can hold a position for consecutively, similar to the US's regulation on no more than two terms per president? Assuming things go as peachy as they did last term, I can see these liaisons being re-elected every term. It'd be good because they're great liaisons, IMO, but sometimes it's good to have change. _________________

I am both happy for the winners (because they did a fine job last time) and disappointed in the results. The exact same five? Meh. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

I agree with all of that.
I too was a little disappointed when I saw the list because it was exactly the same. There's no particular person I would have wanted out, they all do a great job... but I think the community would be represented more accurately if it wasn't always the same people voted in. I was hoping for some change, I guess, not because what we have now is bad (they do a great job!) but so we could see more people's ideas and ways of doing things.
We voted for who we voted for, though.
I think term limits may be a good idea, because I'm afraid the more times the same people get voted in the more inertia sets in and people don't see a reason to fix what isn't broken. Which might be OK, but I don't think is ideal for community representation.

We need a "Yeah that" emoticon
I agree with previous sentiments. Now that we have liasons The Great Tree should protest for term limits... and free ice cream... ooo and a new pair of Converse for Dan... mine are getting kinda ragged.
But yeah Term Limits! |

After a full year, I'd be surprised if any of them actually wanted to do it again...
I figgered at least a couple of them would get re-elected, but I'm surprised all of them did. I believe Prof said it best...

Now you know why incumbents are so hard to ouster. Not that I'm all that sad that Eleri got in. I get to ride on her coattails and all However, I would have liked to see ya in there, Prof. I voted Great Tree.
Though it's nice to see that now the election is done, people on the DRC forums have gotten back to what really matters - arguing about DRC vs. Yeesha. |
