Two links I think some of you might be interested in:
Abandoned Places livejournal community. Obscenely frequently updated with great photos and interesting stories of abandoned places around the world.
Infiltration, a zine and online journal that used to be run by a guy that I knew called Ninjalicious. He was a really audacious explorer and, unfortunately posthumously, published a really great book on the subject called Access All Areas.
Happy exploring! _________________ KI: 34353 |

Oh, here's another thing. This is a journal I found in a building being demolished. The journal hadn't been touched for a long time and had subsequently been vandalized. A while ago I tediously transcribed this journal because I found it utterly fascinating. Maybe youse might too. Here it is. _________________ KI: 34353 |

Cool linkage.
Always found a sad beauty in abandoned places even before my Uru Obsession took root.
That infiltration site is especially interesting
Thanks Cycr |

Very interesting sites, Cycreim!!!
Amazing explorations and shots. Very exciting.
I love that. One probably need weeks to go through,
but it's worth spending that time.
I'm very sorrry for your friend

Oh, Infiltration is the zine I was flipping out to you about while we were walking to the pub in Spokane, Cyc! I love infiltration... but I'm not ballsy enough to do it (often). I've done it a few times before and it made me sooo nervous. (I'm such a goodie-goodie, I'm afraid of breaking rules or injuring myself in the process.) _________________

Hey, Great Tree Saxy will go to any lengths to infiltrate! It's only RL Saxy that won't. XD

We have an abandoned marina here in San Jose (Alviso) that we explored around recently -
http://www.lakata.org/arch/ (search "San Jose")
- as well as a bunch of cool places in Cali.

But.... but.... I love doing it! I just don't like getting into trouble on the surface. If you get into trouble in the cavern, you get to do cool stuff like protest; you don't have to worry about getting arrested. _________________

You know, the fear of breaking the rules is the only thing that keeps people out of private places most of the time! The best rule is the "authorized personel only" sign, which helpfully doesn't tell you who you need authorization from. So... I authorize you guys! Have fun!
Try walking through an "employees only" door in a mall. If you're dressed cleanly and boringly, walk confidently and act as if you belong there, you can pretty much go wherever you want and noone will be the wiser.
It's actually kind of funny where you can go at times just by acting normal. _________________ KI: 34353 |

There used to be something we called "second acting" in New York City. Maybe people still do it, I don't know. You wait for people to come out of a Broadway show for intermission. They fill the sidewalk and smoke their cigarettes. You walk into the crowd and blend in. Then, when they blink the lights, you just file into the theater with everyone else, find yourself a seat (if there are any) and enjoy the second half of the (very expensive) show. That was fun.....and nerve-wracking. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

In high school if teachers had to send a note down to the office they would fold it up and staple it shut before giving it to a pupil to run down with (to make sure you didn't read it).
I found that a blank sheet of folded A4 which was stappled shut was pretty much a carte blanche. Not that I would endorse skipping class... um
But yeah a sheet of paper and purposeful stride can do you wonders. |

Sophisticated movie-hopping. I like it. |

*gulp* That's pretty gutsy. I think I'd be too nervous about getting caught to enjoy the show. _________________
