I just got a new games email from GameTap and here is what it says about URU Live:
Quote: | Get a sneak peek at Myst Online: Uru Live!
We're putting the finishing touches on Myst Online: Uru Live, and while we do, we want to give you a sneak peek at the game and get your feedback on what you think so far. A beta version of Myst Online will launch within GameTap on Dec. 12. A "beta" version of the game means that not all of the game is functioning yet and some known errors still need to be fixed, but it will give you a taste of the game and while you're playing, you might run into some of the game's designers interested in your feedback. Feel free to be perfectly honest with them and help us create the best Myst Online game we can. For more information regarding this special opportunity, please read the Myst Online: Uru Live info card and visit www.mystonline.com. |
So it seems Dec. 12th will be the beginning of Open Beta! _________________ KI# 00635697 |

I got that e-mail too. Yay! I'm really excited about this... although I'll be leaving town for a bit on the 13th, so I may not get much chance to play over the holidays.
I'm so glad things seem to be going well for Cyan. They've put in so much hard work, and I'm glad to see it paying off.

I hope that I will be able to play. I'm running the beta of Vista right now at home and so far I am not able to run Gametap. Hopeing there is a stand alone installer. _________________ KI# 00635697 |

According to talk over on URU Live forum this open beta is only for gametap subscribers and others that have received invitations from Cyan directly. It is also only going to be open until Dec 18th. That is only a week. Oh well it will be fun to see how things are coming and get a preview of what to expect from Live. _________________ KI# 00635697 |

Sweet, the day of my last final exam! I can't wait to play Uru this month until my eyes fall out of their sockets.
That sounded disturbing. _________________

RAWA has clarified that the December 12 date is a GameTap Sneak Peak, not open beta just yet. Too many phases between Closed Beta and Open Beta for my tastes! So that's...
Internal Beta ("Phase 1")
Closed Beta ("Phase 2")
Preview ("Phase 2a")
GameTap Sneak Peak ("Phase 2b")
Open Beta ("Phase 3")
...

Has there been any clarification that there will be a proper open beta after the sneak peak? It seems more likely to me (and RAWA's post didn't seem to suggest otherwise) that we won't be getting a proper open beta now. |

To my knowledge, no, there has not been a clarification. However, in the absense of further clarification, I prefer to assume that there will still be one because we were told there would be one, and nothing has been said to directly contradict that. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I think the 'sneak peek'/'ajar beta' is a really good idea. Give them a chance to test out some of the interface with GT, without committing to a full open beta. _________________

I agree the sneak peek is a good idea. I don't usually have a lot of luck with Game Tap, so I'm anxious to see whether I can even play once I have to use that interface.
Still, onward and upward! (And sideways, and down, and around, and over, and...) _________________ What a wonderful thing it is to spend time with people who aren't obligated to be there, either. |

By the way, are all you guys on the Preview version of the game? We should list ki #'s so we can find eachother...
I'd give you mine only they did a vault wipe this morning and I haven't gotten back in yet (on of the downsides of being at work at the same time Cyan is). Maybe once we do someone can start a list... _________________
