While I was in the city this morning, we had a surprise visit from Dr. Kodama:

As you see, Dr. K's comment "But we're in charge now." got me going. After what happened in the cavern yesterday, you would think they might have a better understanding of who really might be in charge, and it's not us. But he didn't want to acknowledge that fact.

Thanks for the poast, Ashtar. Sounds like the DRC are basically in the same boat as the Explorers...checking the scene, seeing what kind of impact last night's incident might have had.

It wouldn't be the DRC if they didn't think they were in control. But we have seen that not all members are as narrowminded as the group is as a whole. The best thing we can do is to try and get members of the DRC to take Yeesha's Journey like Douglas Sharper and Phil Henderson did.

I believe the remaining members of the DRC have taken the Journey. Yes? Can anybody verify that? I believe they were last seen wearing Relto books.

Here's my account of the events of the day:
20 December 2006
Well, this morning I tried to find out what happened after that frightening scream and mass link last night. I found my KI wasn't working, so I had to go to Gahreesen and get a new one. On it I saw a new KI message from Laxman, with a bit of an explanation:

Still confused, I made my way to the city, where we talked and speculated about that odd incident common to each of us. With my old KI fried, I began to add people to my buddy lists.
Then, Dr. Kodama of the DRC linked into Ae'gura. I had been with him and Marie Sutherland when the "Great Link" happened, so I thought he might have an idea what's going on.

Apparently right before the Great Link, Dr. Kodama was communicating with Laxman, who was "seeing something weird in the Lattice."
The DRC is still trying to get a hold on the situation, and Kodama encouraged us to "help the new explorers" and check with the Guild of Greeters if they're confused about where to go. He also said that the various Ages are assumed safe for the time being, so while they try to make sense of what happened to the KIs and such, I'm going to go through the Journey again.
Looks like the various DRC members were going through the City and the hoods, asking how people are and wondering what changes they had noticed. Apparently Marie Sutherland and Victor Laxman showed up, but I wasn't there.
So, it's been an exciting first day! Very strange... |

Ashtar, I respect you quite a bit, but I also think you were laying it on a little too thick.
Dr. Kodama has shown a habit of not choosing his words carefully... and that could be part of his heritage (did his parents speak English?). He clarified that by "in charge" he meant "responsible for others' safety" afterwards. Give the man a break. We've all just been through a rather harrowing experience.
Honestly, I am more annoyed at the tasteless jokes Kodama cracks sometimes, but that isn't something I intend to bring up in a public confrontation... at least not until he makes it personal. 
I'll be blunt: We asked for, and finally received, explorer representation. That shifts the balance. I think we should tone down our attitudes just a bit, in respect of that. Just because Kodama habitually uses confrontational wording doesn't mean we have to bite at the bait like a teased puppy every time.

Don't worry Marten, I'll tone things down a bit. But things that have happened in the past still keep me too defensive. And although I think it's great that we have the liaisons and some representation now, I'm not that naive to believe the DRC is telling them everything, or just what they want them to hear.
