That's the hacking Uru group, right? Are we excited because they will have something to do with creating new Ages? _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

They're not exactly the uru Hacking Group. Yes they did make hacks for uru but LiquorCooChee started a Until uru Server called the H'Uru shard where lots of people began to do start fan projects like ALCUGS, age creation and also the adminKI was born there! _________________ Visit www.urulive.com

Here's my understanding of it.
[understanding deleted because understanding assumed shards would be named in a reasonably representative fashion] _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I'm sorry... but...
The Alcugs project predates not only LCC's shard but all of Until Uru. LCC's shard never ran the Alcugs server or user-created ages, it is a standard UU server. UruAgeManager was written by Dustin and nobody knew about it until he was done. It was initially to be found in Alcugs project-land before the focus moved to Starfyre's forum. I have no reason to believe Dustin ever had anything to do with LCC's shard.
I believe the name of LCC's shard and any relationship you might see between "H'uru" and "Alcugs" both derive from the so-named forum on the COBBS board. As far as I know, the only thing out of all that has been listed previously that can be said to originate in any way from the H'uru Project shard is the adminKI.

For quite some time the only full-time Alcugs shard, not to mention a full-time shard with user-created ages, has been Ashtar's who-knows-what-it's-named-now shard. If you are actually actively interested in that scene, PM me and I will give you pointers. Going to LCC's shard won't help you out much.

a'moaca',
I appreciate you attempting to set the record straight about those technicalities.
I'm just going to delete my prior post.
I wish the situation was not so confusing. Shards shouldn't be named after things they don't actually represent. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I don't think there was any need to delete posts. And in no way were you the only one confused. And you said it was your understanding. But if someone reading this is actually interested in age-creation stuff, heading towards LCC's shard is barking up a tree in the wrong forest.
I completely agree that it can be incredibly confusing!

I feel better deleting incorrect information so nobody reads partway through the thread and moves on with the wrong knowledge. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

It was called H'uru before Alcugs came into the picture. It was not named after the Alcugs shards if that is what you meant in the above quote. That shard came before the POTS ones did, infact it was one of the first UU shards that came into existance.
Interesting that it is making a comeback after all this time. Was this announced somewhere by the shard owner LCC? |

Hackers like hacking. It's a challenge. it's part of the fun, taking things apart and putting them back together.
Plus it allows people to head different directions, make their own stuff. Cyan will get to that eventually, sure. But it's the hacker's groups that prompted Cyan to do UU, and when fan-content in Live appears, it'll be the hacker groups who have already figured everything out that will start it off. _________________ .yahvo kehnehn taigahntahv .taigahntahv bihv

I love anything to do with fan-created Ages. Especially mine. But, I've devoted zero time to that aspect thus far due to ridiculous time constraints. But, I hope as the Age Builders et al and Cyan start making this feasable, I'll have the time I need to build a world!
