D'Net is posting this around the Uru community, but in case you're visiting The Great Tree forums to hear our response to the Anti-DRC movement and the fraudulent Douglas Sharper, read on.

The Great Tree wrote:
Due to recent, unpleasant events which may have raised new questions about our stance, The Great Tree would like to make a public statement.

We are not in any way affiliated with the Anti-DRC movement. During the early days of the restoration several years ago, we did openly speak out against the DRC because we were suspicious of their policies of secrecy and restriction in the name of public safety. Our work-in-progress documentary videos hope to illustrate the early history of the explorers and the restoration in a truthful light for all sides, and show why we felt the way we did. But we will not now or ever side ourselves with any group which villainizes the DRC simply for the sake of creating an antagonist. The Great Tree is not about anarchy. We are not "anti-establishment," but we are careful watchdogs for mistreatment of power.

We are also appalled that someone recently impersonated Douglas Sharper in an attempt to use his notariety for their own purpose. Douglas Sharper's character has been consistently called into question by the explorer population who does not know him. We have neither seen nor heard from him since 2004 and it is possible that he has changed since his departure, but we are eagerly awaiting a chance to catch up and find out his opinions on the state of the restoration. We have considered him a friend and hope that, if he decides to return to the Cavern, Brian Fioca and The Great Tree may be his first point of contact.

We look forward to the coming influx of explorers to the Cavern and the discovery of new worlds together.

Good post. Many see TGT as Anti-DRC.... I hope this will clear up things for those who didn't understand.

Oh yes, I'm glad to see that. I know TGT doesn't trust the DRC, but I also thought there was a harder stance than perhaps there is. Working to prevent the abuse of power isn't the same as being "against" the DRC restoration. Thanks Saxy.

The Anti DRC Movement is no more.
They have walked out the door.
So there is no more need to fear,
go ahead and drink a beer!

At least one thing came of Dougias's appearance - I would never have found you guys if it weren't for your post of this letter on UO. In my opinion, this is the kind of proactive yet moderate community Uru needs.

Glad you found us, then. Smile

I am glad we've clarified our position a bit. Hopefully this will help people understand what the Tree is all about.
