I'm sure you'll all notice that I've been rather reserved the past few months. I feel like something is about to happen, but it never does, and I'm trying to be careful not to jump the gun.

We need to try to keep the quality of the discussions on this board better, despite the fact that it's a mess down there right now. This is the place where we can all gather and feel comfortable, and we should make sure it stays that way. Am I being a bit xenophobic? Maybe, but I think it's probably justified.

Here's hoping that Doug comes back sometime soon. Until then, I'm going to be pretty skeptical about any official GT activities. We're all still stabbing in the dark. I feel like I've been trying to play WWDSD, but it's not working.

This group was great once, and I think it will be again. Looking forward to this week. Cool

It's too bad that it's come to the point where stuff like this happens. It totally destroys the spirit of the game. Uru is a game in which the primary focus is on character interaction. There is basically no other side to the game, aside from puzzle solving. And even that is meant to be accomplished by interacting with others. It's not like other games where you spend your time leveling up or fighting, or earning points/money. Uru is driven by its storyline, and its storyline is driven by character interaction. And when that aspect of the game falls apart, well, then there's not much left, is there?

Brian is right, something needs to happen. We can't continue to go on day to day in this half-baked, uneasy fashion (I'm not talking about this group, I'm talking about the community as a whole). Prologue was full and rich- it had a fully-developed storyline, and the players were able to build off of that storyline. Look at the Great Tree, it's a perfect example of the way the game is supposed to work. Not this ridiculous impersonator crap. It really takes the fun out of it and defeats the entire purpose of why we play.

I hope Cyan is swift and sure in dealing with incidents such as this. They need to ban these players (including banning IP addresses). If the person is a Gametap subscriber, then fine, let him keep his subscription, but ban him from MOUL. We can't let the game come apart at the seams at the hands of the bad apples.

On a positive note- I'm looking forward to a visit from the real Sharper, as Brian said. We need a voice of reason to come and give us a direction, so that we are once again working toward something. After all, that is why we play in the first place.

Just so you know, we are no longer pursuing that idea. It was just a "test run" for us to explore different ways of getting involved with cavern events.
