Is registered, and in the process of being established in DNS. It'll take a few days to start working.
This is also a good time to actually establish the main website. We need a site explaining our place in the community: our history, what we stand for, etc. Also, I want it to be set up like a news/blog site, allowing periodic updates by multiple users with new info, announcements, and other stuff.
Daedalus has already graciously volunteered himself to work on the art and graphic design of the page. I will need others who know something about HTML and UNIX web administration so I can delegate some of the work. I'm using Apache with mod_php with a mySQL database backend. I will set up the new admins with webmaster accounts on my server, and they will be able to login and administer the site.
Reply here if you are interested in volunteering for content or administration.
Edit: I should specify that you don't have to know HTML to volunteer to be a content provider. The HTML guys can do the formatting for the things that need it. Eventually I'm thinking there will be forms for the content authors to submit their updates.

I wouldn't mind. due to the collapse of our realtime communication, I could work around school much easier. _________________ No-one has explained WHY a raven is like a writing desk! |

Since I originally made a name for myself here by writing, I'm thinking I'd be remiss if I didn't volunteer. I don't really know html, but once the summer gets in gear I could find the time to learn, if we're short handed. What kind of stuff will we be writing about, exactly? Just upcoming releases, mysterium, things like that? _________________ The laws contrived by the Proud are their security, and their undoing. http://www.thegreattree.com should be up and running now. Let me know if there are any interesting side effects. Your login cookies probably won't work anymore, so you'll have to redo those.
Thanks for the volunteers, I will set things up with you guys as soon as I finish getting everything up and running. _________________ #Brian Fioca

Wow, no interesting side effects- the only way I noticed is that I refreshed and I was no longer logged in! Looks great, Brian, and thanks for the new home. _________________ The laws contrived by the Proud are their security, and their undoing. Such laws make disobedience a virtue and obedience a sin. |

Thanks to Daedalus, the sig banner has been changed.
It'll still work at it's present link location, but you can also use it from

Ok, now to the content.
Here are some ideas for what we might need:
- Summary of our history and how the group was formed.
- Our official stance from Live. I was thinking this could come from the threads in The Great Tree Pub forum.
- Discussion of our place in the current community. This is still a bit nebulous, but I sortof feel like we have our own slant on things.
- Maybe some information on Douglas Sharper? /shrug
- Anything else you guys can think of and would like to submit.
You guys can get started on these and come up with more if you want. Once Daedalus gets some content he can better work on the site. Then I can work on finding/writing the software that will allow people to contribute periodic updates.
I'm looking forward to working on this again. It's really gonna rock. _________________ #Brian Fioca

cool content ideas. Maybe add info about Phil, Zandi and Yeesha?? Kind of like little bios of them? A history of the group is good, using Daedalus's explanation of the Greet Tree could come into that and also our offical stance, everyone being part of the Great Tree regardless of where they stand. Learning to work together, share ideas and opinions helps the tree grow and remain strong. |

I'll see what I can do. History first, I think. _________________ The laws contrived by the Proud are their security, and their undoing. Such laws make disobedience a virtue and obedience a sin. |

Sorry for the double post, but I can't seem to edit, even shortly after I posted. Maybe double check to see if the time limit survived the trip unaltered?
Anway, EDIT: That is, unless someone else wants to do it, of course, but I think I might be good for the job since I was there for Brian's first speech on the docks, at the very beginning, and from then on out. I should have it by Sunday evening (my time), give or take. _________________ The laws contrived by the Proud are their security, and their undoing. I'll fix the edit problem...
As for the history, it could even be a collaborative effort... I'm sure there are many who have their own experiences to share and include. _________________ #Brian Fioca

All fixed. I just moved the board over to the T3 hosted server.
