|
|
With the creation and release of KIRC, the new Uru Prime modification that restores Lives functions to the KI, and allows chatting over IRC channels, I realize great potential for this. Although our fan efforts can never surpass Cyan's work of Uru Live, KIRC is the first step towards a multiplayer Uru that can be beneficial to all.
With the recent Guild of Greeters chat reunion, being held today, allowing for those in the Uru community to share their experiences and converse with friends, a similar thing must be done with the KIRC.
I propose a KIRC get-together/reunion, all day, on Saturday, 29 May, 2004. This is an initial timeframe, and can be changed depending on the feelings of the community. However, I feel that two weeks from now is the minimum amount of time we can have the reunion, because word must spread on all the forums, and many more people need to get KIRC in order to participate.
Any suggestions for this event are, as always, welcome and encouraged.
-Gadren
NOTE: KIRC can be obtained from this link to COBBS. Please remember that in order to install and run KIRC, you must have a Live or Prime build, as To D'ni does not at this time work with KIRC. I suggest that you create a seperate installation of Uru Prime for KIRC functions. |

I'm sorry, I'm a little out of it. Is this an in-game chat feature that uses the KI interface from Uru? |

yep! it uses IRC channels built in to the KI, while also restoring all Live functions to the KI (taking pics, journal entries, marker games, etc.)...
it only works on Prime, so make a second installation for it... |

moves learned from bad mistakes wrote: | open "My Computer" and follow the Path of the Mouse. (bad pun)
C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Cyan Worlds
You will see a folder called "Uru - Ages Beyond Myst"
make a new folder called "To D'ni" and put that in there.
The computer won't know where to look, allowing you to install it again.
copy the new Uru and put that copy in a folder marked "backup"
screw around according to the KIRC direction w/the remaining URU folder.
make a new folder called "realKI", and when you're done w/the chat version of the game, plop your chat-modified URU in the realKI folder.
When you want to play URU again, just move the URU folder from the apropriate copy folder to the "Cyan Worlds".
The computer will follow its normal path, and run whatever mod you have out at the time. KI, x-1, or prime. |
hope this helps. _________________ No-one has explained WHY a raven is like a writing desk!

Will we use the default channel, or will someone have to put up directions for how to screw w/the actual code? I'm not good at that type of hacking. the Kirc was up my alley, with just moving this complete file over here, and that over there. I've never done anything close to zamboni or fly mode hacking.
anyway, will we use the default channel? _________________ No-one has explained WHY a raven is like a writing desk! |
