I'm interested in this whole situation.
I could be (and probably is) that this guy is a total impostor... and a freak... and a lunatic...
However, what if he isn't? What are the implications if he's telling the truth?
There's just something weird about it that I can't put my finger on. ResEng233 has been merciless in his moderation in the past. Why so lax on this guy?
Of course, it could be that it's just hard to keep him from posting...
Such a twisted web this is... _________________ #Brian Fioca

Maybe it's just a sign of how unorganized they are right now. Maybe the clampdown is still coming once they get their act together. Besides, how much do we really know about the Restoration Engineers and their relationship with the DRC proper? They're basically outsourced employees. ho specifically do they report to? If it was Watson in the past, who holds the reins now? It is interesting, though. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Over at UruObsession, Zardoz has an OOC theory about who Chris really might be, and why he is being tolerated on the forum.
Do not visit if you don't like OOC potential spoilers:

No offense, Marten, but OOC has done nothing for me in over two years of exploring the Cavern. But many people seem determined to ruin all suspension of disbelief. Going forward I shall be concentrating all my remaining interest on what the DRC are up to in conjunction with explorer activity and where it takes the members of the Great Tree. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

I understand, Professor, which is why I placed a nice warning above the link. Not only am I indicating the link for anyone who does want to read OOC material, I am warding people away, saying "Avoid this thread! Danger, danger!" to those who don't want to trip across OOC theories. I wasn't terribly thrilled to bumble across the hypothesis myself. I am unhappy that Zardoz did not place his conjecture into a spoiler tag. Prior to his comments, the thread hadn't delved into OOC territory and it came without warning for me. |

While that theory is interesting, I'm not sure it matters.
I'm just glad I'm not crazy. _________________ #Brian Fioca

::pats Professor reassuringly:: Oh, don't worry. Don't worry at all.
The name Chris Clement seems very familiar to me, and I'm not sure why. I may have seen this person in cavern. Very very familiar... _________________ ~Moiety Jean

Well it seems ResEng233, who we know is affiliated with the DRC, doesn't want to have any more discussion with Chris. Basically saying "You haven't provided us with your ResEng ID number, so get lost!".
Was this a problem when the DRC was active a few years ago? I don't seem to remember all the false prophets coming out of the woodwork as they have now, but of course, I received my invitation to the cavern much later than most of the explorers here.
It's a shame that this has to occur when the DRC is trying to get re-organized again and whatever information we do receive needs to be accurate and from official sources. All it does is add more confusion to an already confusing situation.

I PMed Chris and told him he's welcome to post over here.
I say we should welcome him. Any enemy of the DRC...

So the enemy of my enemy is my friend? Personally, I think you have lost a few firemarbles

I'm being serious. Besides, from what he told me, he seems to be at least familiar with Sharper's work... and potentially willing to continue it.
Also, if he is telling the truth, he was a Restoration Engineer... it'd be good to have even a former insider among us. _________________ #Brian Fioca

You'll have to excuse me. The good professor has been running on little sleep due to some interesting projects on the surface and this lack of sleep manifests itself in odd behavior.
You're right of course, Brian, it would be beneficial to have a relationship with a DRC insider...even if he's stuck on the outside with us for now. He might be able to provide us some insight as to why the DRC felt they had to be so close-mouthed in the Cavern. Also, it would be interesting to discover how much of this policy impacted the outsourced engineers.
I'm starting to get a little itchy over Sharper's silence. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

I know you are serious Brian. Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid, but too many things don't seem right. For one, he could not provide his ResEng ID number to ResEng233. You would think something that important he could easily produce or have memorized. He was banned from the forum as ResEng141 and had to resort to using a friends computer just so he could start a new account as Chris Clement. And then ResEng told him that further dialog between the two was over and done with.
You say that he is familiar with Sharpers work. Well, so are most of us. That doesn't give me the right to startup talks with the DRC as an official representative, nor to represent the Great Tree. However, I'm a reasonable person. If he wants to come in here and make his case, then I'm willing to listen. Whatever he does now and in the future, he needs to earn the right to speak on my behalf and those of other explorers.
