Previously, I posted a CyanChat log including Rand Miller. Surprisingly, nobody asked me about CyanChat.

It would be cool to see the Great Tree members flood CC for a while
The Java client for webbrowsers often runs pretty slow. I give the thumbs up to the Magenta client. If you're not running Windows, there are clients for other OSes as well. I'd never heard of Cyan Chat till recently... what is it, beyond yet another chat client? _________________

Another chat client. Except, I guess Cyan people show up every now and again. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

As I mentioned, you can chat in the Java client... I just find it to be a littel unreliable
Yes, it's Cyan's own proprietary chat system. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I remember CyanChat being my original foray into the community. Before Riven was released, it was all that really was until forums became more popular (at least that I was aware of).
RAWA and MarkD (Deforest) used to be on frequently to chat. Later LemonLime (Eric) and others would visit now and again. The regulars are always changing but I pop in now and then to reminisce and visit.
There's only a few people that remember me as Jovaris... man, that was like 10 years ago. |

Is it internal to the Cyan company, aka, do they chat about project stuff? Or just another way to keep in touch with eachother? _________________

For as long as I've known, it has been running on a little cyan-colored server called "Cho." |

CyanChat is open to the public, so don't expect anything secret to be said there.
Most of the time, there's no-one from Cyan actually on it. Now and then there is. Rivenchan has been regularly attending while she's interning at Cyan. The only interesting tidbit that we got out of her today was:
Quote: | [Rivenchan] yay, i asked LL what he thought of what i'm working on, and he said "me likey" |
And that's about the most you'll get out of anyone. But it's a cool place to hang out. In the evenings, it gets a little weirder... the night crowd is different from the day crowd. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

OK, that's weird. I'm now getting a message that my IP address is blocked from accessing CyanChat until tomorrow.
Doesn't say that I used a bad word. And I'm sure that I *didn't* use a bad word... I had a problem where my internet connection completely froze for a while. Everything was down. So I couldn't have said anything at that time... I was idle for a while up to when things froze.
It was only some time after that when I tried to get back on that it gave me this message.
Weird. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Phantasy Star Online's word filter was so funny and broken. You were allowed to say "ass" because there was an enemy called Grass Assassin, but you couldn't say "hell" even though there was a whole class of weapons prefaced with "Hell." You couldn't say sHOES, salTWATer, blow (let's blow this sucker up!), weed (I'm hiding in the weeds!), and a plethora of other completely common words because they either contained swears or were otherwise associated with something frowned upon.
So ridiculous! _________________ ~Moiety Jean
