PSA:

The drcsite.org forums are now back online, although some message threads have mysteriously disappeared.

The urulive.com forums are still offline at this time.

Hmm... strange about the missing threads. Do you think it's a bug or that it was intentional? I considered that it may have been because "The Necessary Path Of Failure To Success Of Uru Live" may have been an OOC discussion, but then I noticed that it was probably in the OOC forum to begin with. Strange.

My theory is that there was nothing nefarious about it - GD or whoever moved the forum to the new server apparently had trouble getting the last database backup copied over.

Often, these databases are handled as a whole copy once a week, and then deltas daily. If there was something wrong with the deltas... then those would be tossed and you'd lose up to about 1 weeks worth of data, which is what seems to have happened.

As for recovering the lost data - I know some people are eternal optimists, but it's probably not worth the trouble! You'd have to merge it with new topics created in the past few days, which now have the same topic numbers as the missing topics, and it just creates a big mess. So what's gone is likely gone for good.

Nothing important, at any rate (though I suppose JWPlatt might disagree) Wink
