I already added you to my buddy list on there. BFioca, right? (How many Brian Fiocas could there be on Game Tap? *lol*)
I can't wait to try out multiplayer! What games can you play multiplayer on? Any suggestions? _________________

I've added a small petition to the Uru Live Suggestions forum, regarding how GameTap will interact with Uru Live, plus some other gripes about GameTap.

okee doke, so I went ahead and signed up for Gametap today, and promptly got sucked into Kings Quest 5. And it was so beautiful outside today, too... he he
So there's a multiplayer bit? Musta missed that, the interface is a little, err, awkward. Seems nobody else likes the name "Rils", so I'm still the one and only! _________________

Just to derail the conversation (since I can't get Gametap ) where exactly did "Rils" come from? |

They also just added the original Homeworld, to complement Homeworld 2.
Now I'm expecting HW: Cataclysm must be on its way... _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I've heard of Homeworld, but don't remember off hand what the premise is... any good?
[slight detour to answer Dan's question]Rils is, well, lessee... I've been using it awhile. It must have started 5 or 6 years ago when I was briefly involved in (this is gonna sound nerdy) a Tolkien linguistics group, and I used the Qenyan moniker "Rilmanqualë". I got tired of typing that out all the time, and shortened it to Rils. I don't do anything with that particular group any more, but the nickname stuck. It's just kinda turned into my internet alias, I use it whenever I don't feel like putting my real name down. It's kinda catchy.
And now you know... the rest of the story![/detour]

Homeworld and Homeworld 2 are real-time strategy (RTS) games set in space.
The premise to Homeworld is this: Your people have lived upon a desert planet for all of recorded history, until they discover three things beneath the shifting sands: The remains of a spaceship, a hyperspace core, and a map to another planet. The planet is named Hiigara, which in your own language means "Home." _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I got sucked into Uplink: Hacker Elite last night. I had read about it when it was released, and now I finally got a chance to play. It's a fairly simple game in which you hack into systems to dabble in devious deeds.
The trick is you have a variety of hacking tools at your disposal (which you can later upgrade), and you are timed to get in, snoop around, and delete all evidence you were there before the target host traces you. Not doing so can result to anything from a fine to having your username deleted (a sort of permadeath), so there is inherrent risk in every action you partake in (the game saves as you play, no "undo."). It does get the adrenaline pumping though, because one wrong move can mean permanent game over.
It takes a while, but you eventually get into the actual story. So far, so good. |

Uplink is a great game! It has the simplicity that all really good ideas have. The next game from Introversion (the developers) called "Wargames" looks like fun too
Really want gametap now |

How do you add names to the Buddy List in GameTap? Every time I put in a name it accepts it Carte Blanche without confirmation. To test it I made up some huge, ugly User name that couldn't possibly exist and it took it. If I want to add Saxy, for example, I type in Saxy after hitting the plus sign. Saxy comes up in the Buddly list but I get no confirmation that Buddy Was Found or User Found or even "that name does not exist in our database". I must be doing something wrong. I was wondering the same thing. I did the test with an ugly username yesterday, too, and still didn't get a confirmation. Maybe there is no way to find out? I know Rils exists because I saw him online last night. Tried messaging him and didn't get a response... must've been busy with Homeworld. _________________

The confirmation is if the person replies
Yes, the interface is not that great. And I don't like how it handles "opening a chat window" in the middle of the alphabetized name list. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.
