ha ha, Flagman to the Rescue indeed!!
Thanks Dan... I didn't even think to check the drc site.
So not to derail the thread, but just as a side note, was Phil's disappearance an actual event in mudpie/choru/whatever it was called at the time? Were there actual players who knew him "before" and were part of the search crews in Sept 2002? Or was it just fabricated background woven into the original story presented to Prologue? Either way it shows an immense amount of forthought... _________________

It was all in real time on the forums. There was no plot on Choru, IIRC. _________________ KI: 34353 |

In my experience, introducing a concept to people is easier if you keep the initial presentation dead simple, then re-iterate on the concept while slowly adding in more detail. In some ways, I suppose I'm suggesting that we appeal to the attention-deficit that seems so prevalent in society these days... with little sound bites and video blurbs that act as puzzle pieces. It doesn't have to be that way if you feel strongly about a longer introduction.
But I think we have plenty of time, across the ten episodes, to revisit what we've told and build a more detailed picture. Episode 1 builds on Episode Zero, then two builds on One, and so forth... and by the end, with the recreated events and the introductory explanations, the viewer should have a very good idea in their head about what happened. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I have created a Yahoo! Group for this project so that explorers may join that group to be kept up-to-date with filming schedule announcements.
The group name is greattreeproductions. I will ratify membership requests when I can, but no less than once a day.
Signup at http://groups.yahoo.com/ .
Be sure to check the Calendar and Database sections. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Yahoo! is being uncooperative. It exists and is supposed to be listed in the directory. This link should take you directly to it.
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/greattreeproductions/
MJ: I'll also be posting updates here. The primary point of the group is so explorers who want to show up in our documentary will be able to sign up to this like a mailing list for notifications of new filiming dates.
It would be nice if someone could help me confirm this thing is working though, before I start posting announcements.
Here is the proposed announcement, by the way:
Quote: |
Great Tree Prologue Filming Project Begins
This weekend, the Great Tree will begin filming the first of ten episodes (not counting a special "Episode Zero") that will recap the events of Uru Prologue from 2003.
Public filming for this documentary project will take place on the free Until Uru service, on the D'mala shard. The final product will mix public film with private sources to provide an accurate portrayal of historic events.
Explorers are invited to attend and participate in the public filming sessions. On many occasions, our project will require crowds to recreate important scenes. No voice acting or KI chat will be necessary; historically accurate discussions will be subtitled onto the film. All you need to do is stand in the right place at the right time, and you can be a part of this important project!
We are also interested in locating specific explorers to increase the authenticity of our production. These reprisal roles are on a per-episode basis and will be announced with the filming date of each episode.
If you would like to be kept up-to-date on the filming schedule, I have created a group at Yahoo! Groups where I will post updates to the Calendar. The group is at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/greattreeproductions/ . I will ratify membership requests when I can, but no less than once a day.
Part of Episode One will be filmed this Saturday, August 19. See the Yahoo! Group Calendar for times. The filming schedule may change or extend depending upon circumstances. As the project continues, we'll have better estimates on filming time and needs.
The explorers we are seeking for Episode One are:
Dusante
Aladrin Kehlan
Gregor
Nytram
Christoph (then Christoph05)

ok, I used tha tlink to get to the registration page, and it seemed to work ok from there! I submitted a request, I guess it's pending on your approval...
~Rils
Edit - just got the approval email, seems to have worked just fine! That was a great practice run at being a beta tester, I'll update my resume and send it back over to Cyan. _________________

Gadren's recollection of the events in Ae'gura, as told 2 years later over November and December 2005.
Here:
http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=35&t=22601
We should investigate these postings thoroughly to augment the information we have presently. Oh, and I think Gadren is STILL waiting for Brian to give him access to certain other chat logs. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I'm looking at the chat logs and realizing something.
*The* infamous sit-in on the Great Stairs, the one that led to the barricades disappearing... that happened on a Saturday, right? And the barricades were gone Monday?
I don't think we have a chat log of _that_ particular event.
It would have to have been on Nov 22, Nov 29, Dec 6, Dec 13, or Dec 20.
We've only got one chatlog from any of those days, on Dec 6, and that isn't the sit-in.
Anyone have a copy of the missing log? Or is my belief that it occurred on a Saturday incorrect? _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

That's gonna be tricky to find. It was so spontaneous... I don't know of any record of it... The only place that *might* is UO, buried somewhere. I didn't log it because it almost didn't seem significant until after it was half over (and also I was SO new that I didn't think to log it). _________________ #Brian Fioca

Resuming prior discussion.
1:30 PM GMT would be 5:30 AM Saturday in the Pacific Northwest.
Are you sure that is the time the sit-in occurred? It seems unlikely to me.
Or does GMT now mean "Great-Tree Mean Time" ?
