One key thing that the DRC Liasions have helped to implement is the translation of Town Hall chat logs to languages other than English.
Normally, I delete the sources for my video projects when I am done (they eat up lots of spacE), but for the Episodes, I will be keeping backups. I want to be able to go back and produce alternate-language versions of the Episodes for the benefit of the international community.
Thoughts?
What languages would we want to target? Who could we get to assist us?
I know who I'd ask for a German translation... if she has time. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

well, the other major language represented on UU would be French, I think. There's lots of folks from Belgium, the Netherlands, and other places that speak French. Like, err, France, I suppose...
As for other major world languages, well, there's spanish (which we don't seem to have a lot of people representing, can't think of anyone off the top of my head), and some asian languages (which we don't have any of either). We seem to be a mostly European and NAmerican community.
~Rils
You know what would be funny is to make an "American" version and an "English" version, where we put u's after all the o's and add random e's to the end of words... "The Stoury of the Greate Tree" _________________

I've asked Vortmax if he can recommend any of the kind folks who have been translating the Town Hall meeting chatlogs. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

CAGrayWolf is now on my contacts and he has provided a potential French translator. I'm contacting them now.
Another thought, and another reason that we should synchronize the release of episodes in all three languages together - we should give credit to the translators in all versions. English Example:
Episode Zero
Script: Gadren, Marten, Rils, Zardoz
French Translation: <name>
German Translation: Ireen _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

good point, including the translators in the credits... That way it doesn't come across as an afterthought, it's part of the "we're doing this for the whole community" stigma. _________________

You're welcome Marten and Professor Askew.
Now, waiting to see the vid' The storyboard seems to me a very good start by well placing the bases of the D'ni civization. |
