I'd think it would be rather environmentally unsound to burn those jackets. They're fleece, right? And fleece is made from plastic. My daddy always taught me you don't burn plastic in a fire...
Not trying to make light of this, but I still have a really hard time believing it's true. The DRC have the ability to restrict us in many ways that don't give us direct attention. It seems unlikely that they would stoop to the level of jacket-burning, involving themselves so pettily in conflict. Perhaps my impressions of the high-and-mighty DRC are wrong... _________________ ~Moiety Jean

The jackets, uh, were infected with remnants of Veovis' plague. They had to burn them. For safety!
Yeah yeah, that's the ticket. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Well I hope you are right mj, I really do. Brian was trying to get the DRC and us together at the end of the last restoration to reconcile some of our differences, but as you well know, we never got that chance. So to hear what I did last night from my source was a shock to me as well. Hopefully we can find the truth in this rumor once we can meet with the DRC again.

But this would be an action that the GT couldn't ignore, if someone wanted to stir up conflict with us. I discussed this in the other thread in more depth, but it seems to me that for the DRC an active and reactionary GT is a good GT. If we're causing trouble, they can make examples of us. Without having an opposing side for comparison, they seem more extreme in their position. If we're being too cooperative, stirring up trouble with us would be a very calculated move. And without Sharper around, it would be a move that pretty much didn't have any consequences.
Again, not saying this is what's happening, just that it doesn't seem particularly out of character (ask Phil if the DRC behaves like normal people, and I suspect he'd say no) and could be potentially useful to the DRC.
That is all. (Of course, I am inclined to be very distrustful of them since they kidnapped Phil, so I am biased here.)
Oh, yeah, and...
I just felt we needed that.

Obviously, the best way to enact our revenge is to do what we cannot do, and ignore it anyway..........
Muahahahahahah!
Or maybe not.
Oh, and...

Ask the DRC if Phil behaves like normal people, and you'll probably get the same response. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Burn jackets? Wow, GT must really have their attention....
The group with the power doesn't take that kind of action unless they are really feeling threatened. They may be thinking "if you can't ignore them, harm them." Might have something to do with the rather informative video GT is producing. I'd keep a copy of your film in a in a fire-proof safe. _________________ What a wonderful thing it is to spend time with people who aren't obligated to be there, either. |

We're doing a pretty good job of not being accusatory so far and keeping the option open that this may just be a rumor, but like others have already said, maybe the DRC isn't too happy with the documentaries... _________________

I really hope this story of burning the jackets proves false. I asked Michael Engberg directly, and not all that long ago, about those very jackets and he said he would look into it. He never got back to me. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Perhaps this is the reply?
While I still very much hope this rumour proves false, I get the feeling it probably isn't, but that we're missing some key piece of the story. |

maybe he actually found them...
I'm still a little skeptical, but it's still fun to get all riled up about it! _________________

This broke more than 24 hours ago and the DRC has yet to respond.
Are they too busy? Consider it unworthy of notice? Or...
The more time passes, the more concerned I become. I was really hoping they would post some kind of "We would never do such a thing. We respect and get along with the Great Tree. This is false."
I still hope this rumour is untrue, and that the DRC will soon confirm that.

or... perhaps they don't check the forums that often since they are apparently "hard at work" getting the Cavern ready for guests again...
I know I wouldn't check the DRC forums if I were them either, it's total anarchy over there... he he _________________

The DRC are insanely busy at the moment, we had to go through a 3rd party just to get them to check the forum for PM's so don't expect them to respond at the drop of a hat.
We're meeting with them tomorrow this matter is on our list of things to be addressed so we shall see. _________________ Grey Skies | Beneath |
