I need to do some reading up on semiotics before I try symbols; it's a bit out of my field, though not much of a stretch.
If I see them in the 'hood, nothing that complex, no deep conversations. Just a bit of non-threatening body language to try and establish a starting point and rapport. If I manage to get beyond that, I welcome help and suggestions (or will help some else, as the case may be. )

I was thinking the same thing...no threatening movements.
Maybe just sit down and see what happens initially. I would find an elevated spot to go to like the classroom roof or the balcony even. Since they seem to be above us all the time, might be a good idea to try and go to them. Get as close as possible.
What about having a few people quietly sit in different parts of the hood? NO TALKING and make it private to avoid interuptions. _________________ "Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...

I have a little experience with linguistics, but none really in semiotics itself. However, we really don't have any ideas about how to attract the Bahro's attention. Or what sort of sign they might respond to. (OOC: we have no idea if the details in Myst V are canon, or if the symbols there are even something we would know about IC - if we could say we knew those, we'd have more to go on).
I'm up for suggestions too, honestly. _________________ .yahvo kehnehn taigahntahv .taigahntahv bihv

I know a bit about semiotics although I haven't touched it in a few years so I would have to dig out some old textbooks and go over it a bit. Don't think it will be too much help though, its all very abstract. |

Looks like Tweek is thinking along the same lines, over at the DRC site he's posted saying that he put some bahro symbols on his imager in an effort to make friends... _________________

I see I wasn't the only one thinking along these lines.
Yeah we plan to have tea parties in Delin...or maybe Tsogahl..we haven't decided yet.
I put symbols up for friendship and what not on the hood imagers. Can send people the files if they see me in cavern if they wish.
not to difficult to draw out though. _________________ Grey Skies | Beneath |
