Actually, he knows his name and often comes when called. He hasn't hit the rebellious stage yet, so the only reason for him not coming is if he gets distracted on the way.

My poor dead kitty was the only cat I ever knew who would come cheerfully when you whistled. You could call him inside at night that way, and he'd always be happy to get some snuggles. He was always happy to see everyone and liked to be picked up.
