I'm currently cutting the script. However, I'm also adding quite some conversation back into it!
A lot of references seem to be missing in the current script. For example, at first I didn't understand Laxman's "A little risk? I assure you we've progressed far beyond "little".". Apparently he referred to Kam Uraki who had said "What’s life without a little risk Dr.?", but that's not in the script.
The script links in the first post of this topic are now dead links, so I can only use this script. I don't know if it's the same as the one that was on this website, perhaps some sentences were missed because people didn't shout... that would explain the missing references.
Besides, I really think this should be in the script, it's just too funny: "Kodama: I see your jacket. I know your game Brian." (And that explains why Brian says, in the script, that he likes trees.) |

It is entirely possible that the person logging the event missed some lines, and as a result our scripts are missing some lines. There was no autoshout back then. I really appreciate your diligence. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Yes, it turns out that was the case. McBeorn, for example, is in the script, but doesn't appear in the chat-log. So the two sources complement each other for the most part. |

Hi, Erik, I hope that I'm not too late and that I'm not going to make
things more complicated for you now, but I just had a look into my
episodes folders, esp. the ones for the eleventh and the tenth, and I
found what I hoped and expected to find, that are the chatlogs that
now turned into dead links... I saved those links, when I was still
surfing with IE, as web archives as .mht files and thus completely
saved them for eternity lol...
I've uploaded them to my MediaFire account... Please download them here...
Those are five mht files: Two for the tenth episode from the 22. Dec. 2003,
two for the eleventh episode plus one mentioned later in Febr. 2008 by Marten,
a chatlog of the Sharper meeting on the 10th of January 2004 (posted on UO)
when The Great Tree officially became a public group...
Have fun however and thanks for the script editing efforts... |

That's great Janaba! And Erik, maybe this will also help you improve the archive on your site as well? _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I just wanted to look into Erik's script to see how he translated something
which doesn't make sense to me, by entering his translation to Google
translate lol and realized that one gets a "... not found on this server" page...
However, the sentence I'm talking about is
Victor Laxman
We need to get up there now! It would have to come to this
I don't know whether there's missing something, a negative form or a
wrong wording was chosen, so, I can only sense what was meant to be
said... But I want to know of course, what he was actually trying to express
and thus translating it correctly and not the way I think it could have been
meant lol... Thanks...
Tomorrow I'll translate the CONCLUSION and then I'm done... |

"It would have to come to this" is a somewhat common English expression. "It" refers to a progression or chain of events, "come to" means reach, and "this" means the current point in time, or the outcome of the most recent event in the chain. So, a more formal phrasing without antecedent-less pronouns would be, "Events would have to reach this point." When spoken, the word "would" may be more heavily emphasized, sometimes with a note of sarcasm, but not always.
Overall the phrase has a deeper inherent meaning - the speaker likely means, "I had hoped that this situation would be avoided, but due to the actions (or inaction) of others, it has become inevitable."
Variations of the phrase include "I never thought it would come to this" and "We knew it would come to this." _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I think my translation would be in German: "Irgendwann musste es so weit kommen". |

Yes, thanks, Erik, like this and thanks, Marten...
I just sent you the german script plus the 10th episode
again, where I didn't translate one whole sentence at all lol...
And I see that you still ignored my note above on Erik's script
which still isn't available and leading to a '...not found on this server'
page... lol... |

Oops. I misunderstood that was directed at me. Let me see what is going on.
Should be fixed now. Filename was slightly wrong. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

There is a small piece of really important information missing in the opening of Episode 11, so a little additional translation is necessary for each of the languages.
The critical information is added in an extra opening summary message, indicated in boldface below.
Quote: |
SUPER: After Douglas lost access to his pub and neighborhood, Kam Uraki began a new neighborhood to gather supporters. He named the neighborhood “Kinjo no Surudoi”, or “Guild of Sharper.”
SUPER: After holding him for 8 days, the DRC released Phil Henderson on the 23rd. And so for the remainder of the week, Douglas Sharper declared a temporary truce.
SUPER: Christmas arrived and the day passed quietly with many explorers, and the DRC too, spending time on the surface with their families. Those who stayed in the cavern pondered the meaning of Zandi’s mysterious message regarding the Path of the Shell.
SUPER: But the following morning, explorers linked in to find a loud commotion in Ae’gura…
