I know the gang over at COBBS was working on a hack that simulates KI chatting through IRC or some junk like that. But there's no guarantee that installing TPotS is going to support that hack... so I had a thought.
I use a IM client called Trillian. It's great... one chat client can support ALL the major IM protocols; AIM, MSM, Y!, ICQ, IRC and the windows can have skins where you can adjust the transparency and all that...
I'm gonna play with it a little, but, I bet I can get a mostly transparent skin and overlay a chat window on my Uru screen if I play in Windowed Mode...
Then, if we all did it, and set up an IRC room to sign into when we play... it might sorta be like in-game chatting.
Anyone interested?

Yes Sir... it's basically a chat room window that can be set to semi-transparent and can overlay your Uru game... but only if you play Uru in Windowed Mode, not Full Screen. With the right window placement, it wouldn't be TOO much different that what we had when Uru was Live.
I'll see if I can throw something together and post a screenie of it.
EDIT:
Ya know... I should have tested it before I opened my big mouth. 
When I overlay the chat windows on top of my Uru window, the chat windows flicker like crazy... very, VERY annoying.
Sorry for getting anyone's hopes up... let the beatings commence.

If the COBBS people have gotten this far, it's only a matter of time before they can resurrect the actual KI in PotS

I have an even better idea... why not install Team Speak, and actually talk to one another online while we play the game. I'd even offer to set up a URU chat room on our Sabre Corps Team Speak server, if you like!
