I've just been reading The Watcher's Book of Words, in Section 5 at the very end is an interesting paragraph:
Quote: | Under the sun is the bringer of destruction |
Ti'ana?
Quote: | To the wound the bringer of pride returns |
Gehn returning to the Cleft?
Quote: | But the son of the son will carry the burden |
Atrus? Carried the burden of his people and tried to make a new home for them.
Quote: | And his wife will face the storm |
Catherine? Kidnapped by Gehn when she returned to Riven
Quote: | Give him a pen, and he will plan |
Atrus again?
Quote: | Giver her a pen, and she will dream |
Catherine? Often referred to as the Dreamer.
Quote: | And a daughter will carry the burden of her father |
Yeesha?
Quote: | And the daughter of the daughter will live in peace. |
Does Yeesha have a daughter? Or is it referring to as Yeesha the daughter of Catherine?
Yeesha also said the following in one her speeches:
Quote: | The path of my great grandmother, bringer of destruction. The path of my grandfather, the rebuilder of pride. The path of my mother, writer of dreams. And of my father, of my dear father, the caretaker of burdens. And I knew that at the end of such great paths must lay a great purpose. I returned to the Cleft to find it. The Cleft, the fissure in the desert, the wound in the earth, the path of the things beneath the surface. |
Also one other thing I caught. When I redid Uru Prime a few days and was listening to Yeesha's speeches in the Bahro cave she said something that caughter my ears:
Quote: | For the D’ni and for Yeesha, it was death that moved me to return. |
What death is she referring to? The death of her mother and father, Catherine and Atrus? Or her brothers? Or someone we don't know of yet.
Just some thoughts I had. |

I think you're spot on, Farlesis. "Daughter of the daughter?" The only daughter referred to is Yeesha....so perhaps she does have a daughter of her own.................."It was death that moved me to return" I believe refers to the Fall.......just guessing. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Yes the death reference could be that she's referring to the fall of D'ni. I have put up the entire transcribed version of the Watcher's prophecies known as the 'Words' in the Encylopedia. That took some typing But it was fascinating and interesting to read at the same time. Lots of thoughts about various passages. I think the Grower is Yeesha, and lots of references to the Gathered. |

Here's an idea.
I think it would be cool to transcribe the passages on the forum, and try to interpret each line and stanza -- maybe make some sense of it as a whole for the community. What do you guys think? |

agreed. UO has them all transcribed. should this discussion be here at TGT? i'd recommend UO, where we'd get more input. |

Not only do I agree that this is an excellent idea...........I think it's necessary.......
I am enjoying tPotS immensely but the mystery is so dense (pun intended), I'm not sure I'm getting everything.
We need at least one more expansion pack. Perhaps Uru: The Plain Truth or Uru: The Path of Enlightenment or even better....Uru: The Explanation.
Really, I'm not a Denny Dimwit....but this $h!% is deep! LOL I really feel the D'ni story is heading past epic. They can't quit now. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Actually, Gadren, I think if any of the GT members are going to tackle this big job they should keep it in-house. Seems to me the encyclopedia would be a great place for this project. In fact, I'll join them.......once I've finished tPotS. In any case, feel free to tell everyone at UO we're noodling on this over here at GT. The more the merrier! _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

That's cool Gadren.
So everyone where do we want to start? At the beginning or with Section 1? |

We could do a thread for each section... we can add more commentary as each thread progresses perhaps. Should this be in the Research forum? |

Yes I was thinking Research forum as well. And good idea as well to do each section with it's own thread and then it can be broken down more easily and not get lost amongst everything. |
