I just wanted to let everyone know that the shard is going great now. I really had some problems getting it to work with a certain version of Linux I was using, but all it took was to use a different version of Linux and the problems disappeared. Over the last week I've been having some close friends give it a real run through.
I just sent Chip at Cyan an email letting him know the published name and hostname for the shard so it can added to the list. But for now, you can get into the shard by manually entering:
greattreeshard.org
in the bottom box of the UU setup screen where it says "Server Address". Just erase whats there and enter the address above. Next hit the "Login" button and you should be on the shard in no time.
The cleft windmill is running and the Bahro door is already open. You can go directly to the cleft and get your Relto book.
Teledahn's sun catcher is already on and the elevator is waiting. I didn't want to put anyone through the torture of trying to align that buggy sun catcher.
Hope to see you all in the shard soon! I will be there most of the weekend to admit new members into the Great Tree hood. Getting the jacket will not be a problem either
By the way, saved game imports has been disabled. If you would like to import your Ages Beyond Myst game before you login, let me know via a private message and I will arrange it. _________________ Uru Live KI #: 69208

Great News, Ashtar! Congratulations! I am heavily involved with what's happening with the WE (Umbra, Albion, etc.) over on the Tapestry shard but there's no way I'm not going to stop by and say hey on a regular basis. Gotta support the team. Good luck! And I'll see you very soon. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Well, this is just about the greatest birthday present I could ask for,
except maybe to have TPotS running on the new Great Tree Shard... _________________ URU Live KI #: 50911 MOULa KI #11697212

Hmmmmm... I tried to logon to The Great Tree Shard all day, yesterday. Copied and pasted the URL in the appropriate shard address box, but couldn't even get a ping to the server. Did I do something wrong, Ashtar? _________________ URU Live KI #: 50911 MOULa KI #11697212

Mystlander: Don't know what happened but the shard was up and running all weekend. We have several new people who have dropped by and visited the shard. So it could be just one of those things where a DNS server is down or the net path was broken. Give it another try and if you are still having problems please let me know. _________________ Uru Live KI #: 69208

why must everything be not timed in my favor? I can't trust my computer to run Riven nowadays, let alone Uru. _________________ No-one has explained WHY a raven is like a writing desk! |

I see that you visited the shard Eleri, and welcome! Concerning the fireflies, I do try to make our humble Relto home as nice as possible without ruining the game for new players. Along with the fireflys, you will find some "non-standard" items in your closet. And any member of the GT can request the special jacket.
Hope to visit with you on the shard soon. _________________ Uru Live KI #: 69208

Unfortunately Eleri, I think the day that you joined was also the same day I managed to mess up the vault by fixing a Great Zero link. I do have daily backups but was probably before you joined the shard. Hopefully I won't do too many more dumb mistakes like that in the future _________________ Uru Live KI #: 69208

Was last friday for the first time on your shard. As usual, even in the Tapestry, it was a bit empty, but it looked good. Had I think to do with the server just getting back on-line after being crashed for a few hours. It is nice to be able to go through the cleft and get your relto straight away. Thank you.
Can I import the completed prime that was available for download on the Uruobsession website? Didn't want to do it in the start, but would be nice.
Hope to meet you in D'ni soon, good luck with the Path of the Shell!!! |
