I just picked up my copy yesterday.....and I was surprised to see those pics. Good choice, though. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

IŽve read it (in english, to avoid translation errors) and was blown away by the great writing style (I didnŽt read the books before).
Especially the many, many details about the DŽni and their culture were very interesting, because most of this information is not present in the web. _________________ See you in DŽni,

It is, it's just difficult to organise into something meaningful. |

This is, what I am trying to do at the moment... Making an online encyclopedia about the Myst Universe. The site will go online in a few weeks, first in german, but I will translate it part by part to english (other languages maybe translated by others). _________________ See you in DŽni,

That's a great idea Rabenschwinge. Please let us know when you have it online. Thanks

Feel free to use the Myst Embassy Nexus as a launching pad in your search for info, Rabenschwinge. Here is a link to the site:
http://nexus.officiallyunofficial.com/
Well over 300 sites can be accessed from this one location. It takes a moment to load so be patient. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Thank you for your kind words and for the link, it will be very useful!
I should mention, by the way, that it is not complete yet - a lot of work has to be done, there are some 30-40 articles done yet, because I research and write them all myself.
So it could last a while to have a really complete encyclopedia.
I just mentioned that, so that I donŽt raise expectations to high
What does the proverb on the drc-site say about steps? _________________ See you in DŽni,

I don't want to discourage you, Rabenschwinge, but I tried a similar project back in the spring. I ended up with two three-inch volumes of printed material (no writing involved! just source material from the internet) and I could tell it was going to take a loooooooong time.
My advice would be to contact the people at DPWR who are doing an excellent job with their own online encyclopedia and see if there is something you can contribute to them. Here is the link:
http://www.dpwr.net/
Maybe your approach to the project differs from theirs. Or maybe you have gathered material that they're missing. In any case, it might not hurt to look over the site then make contact with the folks who run it.
OR.....maybe you can get permission to translate the existing version into German and add your stuff then. Just some thoughts. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Professor Askew, thank you for your suggestions.
IŽve thought about those issues already, and I know, that it wonŽt be done in a week, nor a month, perhaps not even in a year.
But it is fun to do that, and I have decided to do it, although it will be a whole bunch of work
IŽve visited the DPWR a lot, and I really like what they did on this page.
Recently I registered and will add my two cents to this great site.
But, youŽre right, IŽve a different approach to the project - IŽm trying to give as much information as possible - some of the DPWR-articles are rather short, and the style of writing is very different, IŽd like to do a more homogenic site.
Of course - and IŽve thought about that more than once too - IŽll give my permission to anyone, who wants to take my articles and show them on their own sites (as long as they mention me as researcher/author), as long as they allow others to do the same.
The information is already there, but it is scattered around the web - therefore I want to gather them.
Thank you,
with best regards,
