Hi everyone...... Although I see so many familiar people on this forum, I'm ashamed to say this is my first post.

I'm sure most have heard the announcement already, in the cavern or on other fourms and I hope you won't mind my repeating it here. The Uru Obsession Hood and Tapestry Shard are hosting The First Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Party. All shards are invited to participate in the event. We have selected a time of the parade in an effort to include as many TZ's possible. Eric has created a special Event Shard which will be a bare bones stripped down shard to decrease lag and crashes. If all goes well with the parade, the shard will be in place for future events. We have already gone through one test of the shard, which proved to be very successful. We plan more tests before the date of the event.

Everyone is Irish on St. Pat's Day and everyone enjoys the fun.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE AND PARTY DATE AND TIME ARE NOW SET

The date and time for the parade will be Saturday March 12th at 3pm EST and will be held on the Event Shard (eventshard.urutapestry.com) Manually entered on Tapestry shard drop down. The day before the event the special Event Shard will undergo a vault wipe to insure a clean shard. Everyone will need to create new avies and will have new KI numbers. You will have 24 hours to set up. We will need a list of the name and KI numbers of people marching and what group/shard they will be marching with. It is important for us to have a list ready for the event so that Eric will be able to easily warp people to the parade site by their group.

We are asking each shard participating, for someone to volunteer to chair their shards committee and organize their hoods into marching units. essjay and her committee has been visiting and will continue to visit the shards to enlist participation, explain the plans and help you to organize. The chair person of each shard will become a member of the Main Parade Committee and be included in meetings, so that they can keep current as the plans progress. My suggestion is that each shards chairperson and their committee, lead their shard in the parade. essjay has called the event "The Mother of All Parades" and it promises to be just that. So let's get this thing on the road and let us hear from All shards for a United UU.

Tapestry shard will begin organizing each hood into marching units and help get them started with practice. I will organize the paractice in the UO hood and hope to have a good turnout. essjay and her committee will visit all other hoods on Tapestry and help them prepare and practice their march Once that is set up and we all feel comfortable with our timeing and formation, we will attempt a test run of the parade route on the Event Shard.

San_San....Admin. of Slackers Shard is attempting to organize and sign up admins. from all shards. Eric the admin. of the hosting shard Tapestry will be the Parade Grand Marshal and greypiffle will be Aide to Grand Marshal and will lead off the parade. All shard admins. will be Parade Marshals and will follow Eric and GP as one unit. On completion of their march, the admins. will take their place on the reviewing stand at the top of the stairway outside of the library. Presently, we have a growing list of admins who have signed up to participate. It is my hope that every shard admin. will try to participate and help us to make this event:"The Mother of All Parades:....Please let San_San know that you'll be participating.

Beside the fact that theis event should be a really fun time, I have another motive for planning this event and would like to share it with everyone. I'd like to promote and encourage better inter-shard relations and my feeling is, the best way to do that is to get everyone together in a fun enviroment where everyone can interact, get to know each other better and perhaps make a new friend or two. We have all read the posts and have posted ourselves, with regard to problem of infighting going on in some of the major shards. It's a sad situation and I really hope they are able to resolve their problems. What I feel, in my heart of hearts, is that what effects one shard, effects us all. When I see important and dedicated people leaving one after the other, I become frightened and sad. I realize that whenever a lot of people get together in one place, there will be differences but I believe, in the cavern, we are not just individual communites of seperated shards and hoods, but an entire community made up of people who share the same dream and love of the Myst/Uru/UU Live concept. If one goes down, we all do and we are all injured. I hope we can all get together and make this event a huge success and as a bonus, have a great time and make new friends.

I think this is an excellent way to bring new and old friends back into the cavern for a fun event. I'm hoping that enought GT members will be able to make it so that we can march as a Group. Here is a signup sheet for those who will be there:

We need as many volunteers as we can get for this test which will involved warping from hoods to the city and back!

The main reason I haven't been around the Cavern much these days is I lost my UU executable file when I re-installed Complete Chronicles. I think I'm going to have to reload the whole thing and I don't know when that's going to happen. But, I'll try.

I still haven't heard from The Great Tree Shard if you plan to participate and march in the parade. I do know Ashtar as Shard Administrator plans to march. Please, if there is anyone who would care to volunteer your time to chair a commettee and organize The Great Tree Shard into a marching unit, PM essjay or myself here or on the UO forum. So far the participating shards are: Tapestry....GoG....TMP....H'uru Project....German.....French. We also have a D'ni Honor Guard and are still looking for a few more across shard enlistees.

As essjay has posted, another test for the Event Shard has been scheduled for Sat. Feb. 26th EST. We are once again looking for 50 or more people to volunteer to participate in the test. This time we will be testing for MASS warping to Ae'gura and back to the hood, in addition to city capacity. Three hoods will be set up for the test and those who wish to help with the test are asked to go to these hoods and remain there until they are warped. We are asking that you please do not use your Christmas KI commands on the shard during the test as it will interfer with the warping and cause lag and possible crashes. We also ask that you please DO NOT USE THE PUBLIC NEIGHBORS CHAT at all during the test. It will interfer with the administrators communication and make it difficult to read their own chat. While in the hoods you may chat, play, joke and party as much as you like but once warped to Ae'gura, please use PM to chat. Now that the "do not's" are out of the way. I hope all of you who helped with the initial test, will once again volunteer along with those of you who were not able to participate the first time around. It might be a good idea to bring along food, snacks and drinks, along with your great sense of humor. Oh...and btw...please go to the bathroom prior to the test. It should be a fun time and at least this time you will not be locked alone in your Relto.

REMEMBER: SATURDAY FEB. 26Th AT 4PM EST ON THE EVENT SHARD

Note: For those of you who have not been to the Event Shard, the address is....eventshard.urutapestry.com on the Tapestry Shard address dropdown box (Manually Entered). Imports are allowed. If you are not able to import, you will need to createan avi, play thru the cleft and get your KI. It would help if you did this ahead of time.
