LOL! In Riven, it took me forever to find the hidden passageways behind the doors on Crater Island. _________________ Jaharen

I'm hoping to be cheat-free on Revelation and EOA. With Uru there was no way...too long a gap between buying and being able to play. I bought the Prima guides and devoured them both just to have something of Uru.
Though having read them, I'm not sure if I hadn't I wouldn't still be stuck in Teledahn wondering what on earth to do...
That's the worst part of cheating. You never know if you would have got it on your own. _________________

Teledahn I had pretty much figured out. Ahnonay I would never have gotten without help. Stupid rotating globes. I think that puzzle was the most abstract puzzle Cyan has ever come up with. I'm still not totally sure how I got through it... _________________ Jaharen

I cheated the HECK out of Ahnonay. That Age was crazy hard. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

I honestly thought I was gonna get away with getting through Uru without cheating. Then I got to the last puzzle in Kadish (last age visited) and got stumped. It was a cry of agony to have to get a "nudge."
TPotS seriously tested the limits of my sanity. No way were we getting out of that one alive. Like I'm really gonna think to stand in one place for 15 minutes. |

Well, don't feel TOO bad, Daed. If you think about it, all the Uru parts were originally supposed to be played online, with the help of others. So to get hints from other people is, I think, quite acceptable in the spirit of the game. Teamwork. _________________ ~Moiety Jean

Yeah, in context of the online scene, I would imagine that it would have taken longer to figure out the path of the shell if we had no clues and just the rolling ball .
Honestly, did ANYONE truly figure that puzzle out for themselves? I'd like to hear what inspired such an insane notion. |

In hind sight, (and I haven't really confirmed it) everything we needed to know to solve everything was in those Watcher's journals. If one were to really employ the patience (one of the lessons in tPotS) the game asked of one...I bet it could have been solved without hints. It's just that no one was really up to the task. I blew it myself and sometimes regret it. I was so hungry for new content that I didn't take the time the game deserved. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

That's just it for me... my urge to explore supercedes my patience to figure out some of the puzzles, especially that satanic spawn callen Ahnonay.
I got another idea...would Teamspeak work simultaneously with the offline games? Seems easier than IM _________________ Your friendly neighborhood balladeer,

I don't know what Teamspeak is, but I like MSN Messenger because you can set it to keep an automatic log of all conversations. It's a constant chat log which could be very helpful when going over previous thoughts about how to solve a puzzle. _________________ Jaharen

Teamspeak is voice chat, (free download, fun to play with)...they use it on the GT tpots shard, as there's no KI yet. You're right, though, if you want to log the chat, the IM wins out.
On a related note, I was hoping to find some GT chat tonight, either TS or mIRC or anything-- I'm having withdrawal.
Just got back in the cavern last night, and cyan's data servers took the holiday off today... I guess it'll all be working tomorrow about the time I gotta hit the road.
Maybe see y'all next weekend _________________ Your friendly neighborhood balladeer,

Just a couple of days ago I encountered a thread on another forum in which someone really tore Cyan off a strip for designing Uru so badly. Some of the puzzles were (gasp) misleading. Some of the Ages involved physical activity rather than pure ratiocination...and some of them weren't even SAFE!
Apparently he found it really difficult and it's All Cyan's Fault for not giving him what he expected. Dear oh dear. _________________

Uh oh. The ol' ACF.
Good thing they have the time and resources to investigate everyone's individual adventuring needs and cater to each! ::bonk::
I'm really getting excited about End of Ages. I can't wait to see all the treats in store for the long-time, well-versed fans. ::squirm:: _________________ ~Moiety Jean
