Okay, Daed, I split the topic. No more freaking out.

I'm probably going to re-install tonight. I wanna make sure I'm ready when the Call is, well, re-Called. (I was holding out for my new computer but it's sitting in another state and I can't wait anymore.)

There's some strange goings on at COBBS. Perhaps you've read a little bit about it at the DRC site. Some fella named atwistedmind has been posting strange clues about....strange things. Apparently he's made his presence known in the Cavern. Here's the link to the COBBS thread if I haven't already posted it somewhere.
http://www.cobbs.ca/bbs/showthread.php?t=782
It's all very intriguing and I would like to meet the man who refers to himself as the Healer. Apparently AllMyst and samsbase are his helpers "Fire" and "Water".

I'll check it out and report back.

I don't know. The whole healer thing sounds really really hokey to me.

I'm really really suspicious of all of this ATWISTEDMIND stuff.

More than that, ... a little annoyed even.

It seems evident that the DRC are working toward bringing back the story, and now this weirdness comes along while people are waiting for that.

Oh well. Whatever. Smile

Well, I was wondering if they were related somehow. atwistedmind has quoted a lost DRC book about the Healer and I would have assumed he couldn't do that without the DRC's "permission". I'll keep my eye on it for now.

[I'll first speak ICly, then step OOC.]

Friends,

It has been interesting to observe the controversy these past two weeks surrounding the person who calls himself "A Twisted Mind," but I have sadly drawn the inevitable conclusion that this man is a false prophet and is not to be trusted.

The key piece of evidence to which I must draw your attention is is message titled "THE HEALER STORY," posted to the COBBS forum with the alleged attribution, "from a lost DRC book." To be quite blunt, this story looks nothing like any of the writings we have seen from the DRC. All of the paperwork left behind by the DRC that we have uncovered has been professional, with minimal spelling and grammatical error, and neutral in tone (some might even say downright boring, as much of it reads like a well-edited history text). This little story meets none of those qualifications. Furthermore, I find many of the claims in this story to be absurd. Followers who could disappear (turn invisible?), glow, float, or link to any age without books? This sounds like nothing we have previously heard of the D'ni. And for a "lost" book, this story sounds to be written from a perspective of a very recent time; at the bottom, there seems to be an implied gap of time between the incident with Phil Henderson and the time of writing. As the DRC left the cavern only a short period after the rockslide in Ae'gura, it looks to me that this story was fabricated many months afterwards. Finally, my memory does not match this story's alleged reports of explorers seeing a man calling himself "the healer." Do any of you have this recollection?

I am also deeply disturbed by his apparent allegation, as reported by AllMyst, that "the grower is gone." This I take to mean Yeesha, and I do not believe that she would abandon her cause so lightly.

I do not trust this person!

[OOC] Seriously, it has been fun following this puzzle until now, but you might as well translate the poorly written "Healer Story" text as "followers who could /spawn in the blink of an eye, and could change physical things about them, like they could /glow, or /float." The abilities read like a list of UserKI commands! The "glow" bit is particularly hokey.

This has been an interesting diversion and nothing more; now, I go back to waiting on the official DRC forums, anxious for the next message from the DRC.

[IC]

Well, Marten, I, too, have had my suspicions regarding this Healer fellow. As you say, his tantalizing puzzles on the COBBS forum have been interesting but this poorly written "lost DRC book" is highly suspect. I haven't been in the Cavern in some time but I plan on renewing my efforts in an effort to find this mysterious person or at least his "lieutenants", AllMyst and/or samsbase. Hopefully I will get some answers.

[/IC]

[OOC]

I was wondering if there were more than one thing going on under Cyan's watchful eye. Perhaps gamerzUnion will house the Cyan-sanctioned DRC story while Until Uru will continue with fan-based exploration and age-building tools. Again, one would think you'd need Cyan's blessing to issue a lost DRC book.

Marten, I was thinking the same thing. It started out interesting, but the "Lost DRC Book" really blew it for me. So many good ideas started, so many good ideas fizzling. Like the DRS (whatever happened with that anyways?) and any number of other attempts at recreating an ongoing storyline.

But, I guess we need SOMEthing to pass the time till the DRC throws us another bone to gnaw on...

Well, I finally got myself back down into the Cavern after a fairly long layoff. I was determined to meet this Healer-man and find out what it/he was all about. After waiting a half hour past his scheduled arrival time...he didn't show and I had to leave. So I'm gonna go poke around the other forums to see if he ever showed up and see if there's a chat log of the discussion. Seems there's a growing concern over his true identity.

But, it was great to see some of the old timers there....CAGrayWolf, Deg was there...Morwyn and others. And Sam was there. He's one of the two guys who's already spoken with atwistedmind. But, he didn't have anything to add while we waited.

EDIT: Well, it looks somewhat (un)official...atwistedmind aka The Healer is just one of us reg'lar folks. He posted this over at COBBS:
http://www.cobbs.ca/bbs/showthread.php?t=801
So, he started out pretty good, got a lot of people interested...

Anyway, I'll keep one eye out instead of two and see if anything develops. I'd be surprised if it did. Explorer-generated journeys never happen.

I thought you had known me long enough to detect my sarcasm, Professor. Twisted Evil I was merely commenting about all of the IC/OOC back-and-forthness.

Carry on. Very Happy

Laughing Laughing I thought you had known me long enough to detect my double-sarcasm, Daedalus! Granted it was subtle......or maybe not very good.

Or was that re-sarcasm.
