Wouldn't it be great to be able to visit just one website in order to learn what activities are planned for the cavern along with when and where?
I'm talking about an events calendar, forum independant, that anyone can use to view or schedule events.
Well, it is a possibility. It wouldn't take long for me to put together a utility like this. Thing is, I'm not in the habit of building resources if they're never going to be used.
I have to know that other adventurers & event planners see the overwhelming need for such a utility and would actually begin using it instead of posting to 5-10 various forums.
If you'd like more information/detail about how the calendar would work, I'm happy to answer questions. _________________

This sounds like an interesting idea, frankenscarf, but if I were making it, I'd hold off until there was something solid happening. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

I have to disagree. Something like this has been a looooooong time coming.
So solid like what? Like the 30 or more events already scheduled on various shards? Like a request for activity in the cavern?
The existence of the proposed event calendar will in no way affect those who have never and will never be contributing members of the "community". It will, however, provide a much needed bit of centralization, a 'hub' if you will, for cavern activities and community growth.
I'll update this thread soon with the progress already made by AdamJohnso, of the uru obsession forum, who has almost finished building this utility. _________________

Makes sense. For me personally, though, it sounds like Until Uru versus Uru Live. This calendar is a great idea but I've definitely moved away from UU-like events and gatherings with the prospect of a potential return to something more substantial..."cautiously optimistic". But, I look forward to the fruits of your labors and seeing how it plays out. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

I'll have to agree with frankenscarf on this one Professor With Cyan's call for more events, activities, and meetings on D'mala, this will be the perfect way to keep track of them all. I know there have been a few activites I missed in the past because of not seeing the original thread on a forum.

I know I'm a newbee but I would like to vote for a common calendar. One that can be used by all forums/UU groups/hoods, etc. to post planned events. I believe that these events will help prove to the powers that be, that there is a real interest in gathering for the sake of getting together in addition to the exploring that a rebirth of URU Live will bring. Right now, we have UU to prove that point. The more folks that can show up at an event because they knew about it in advance without having to search many forums etc., the more the larger population at any given time will prove the dedicated following and participation that UU has and therefore UL will have.
As an example, in the last two weeks I attended a dance party on the rooftop, one in the gallery and the GT meeting just this past Saturday... not because I knew about them in advance but because I was exploring and happened to notice a large population in one area or because someone happened to /SHOUT it out while I was wandering around. I think more folks would show up if there were a common planner of sorts.
Perhaps a link can be placed on each forum etc. home page to get to the common calendar.
Sorry that was so verbose but I hope my point is easily understood. Thanks. _________________ Shorah,

Professor. It would be my hope that even when/if something like Uru Live comes back, this same calendar will be used. The DLA began holding events before Live was officially cancelled and little distractions can be a nice change of pace in MMOs.
Right now, the 'Uru Day Planner' is in the final stages of completion. AdamJohnso has done some great work, in a short amount of time, and once it is polished a bit the Uru community won't know what hit 'em. (though i hope they do) _________________

Yes, definately... if participation in UU by large numbers of explorers does bring back UL or something like it then the 'URU Day Planner' would be a must. Can't wait to see it. _________________ Shorah,

Sounds awesome, scarf! You don't need my approval to do it. I'll certainly check it and use it if I've got any events scheduled! _________________ KI: 34353 |

Great to hear it.
I have to mention something that came up which is kinda funny.
The official Until Uru homepage has an interesting new link right at the top.
I've been in touch with 'em and been informed that plasma's calendar is for D'mala shard only. Makes perfect sense, right?
It will be no different than other forum/website-specific calendars and if I have no problem with those existing, I'll have no problem with this one existing.
Hopefully it won't cause any confusion, but who wants to join me in a little, "Coincidence? I think not." _________________
