hmm, I wonder if we'll get to say when we've been accepted to the beta, and if it'll be as hush hush secret as it used to be. If it's the same ole content, one might optimistically think that the NDA won't be quite as strict!

This should answer your question:
It is still hush-hush. Uru Live = Fight Club. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Here's a good question. How does one get his hands on the XP's? I'm assuming I'll need them for the beta.
Nevermind. I found em, lol. Sorry I never played the XP's cuz... well there were too many memories attatched to the game, and I missed the live aspect too much to wanna go exploring new stuff without my old friends. |

Aren't beta's usually self-contained content? If I understand correctly, Cyan had to totally recrate the game, or at least the physics engines, which amounts to much the same thing. The beta install req's ask for 2 gigs of harddrive space, I'm guessing we won't need U:ABM to participate once we get into the beta.

Kam (& Rils): Beta has been confirmed to be an all-new download. It won't use the CDs at all.
Uru Live has been reworked so that you start by downloading only your starting age (which we're told is not the Cleft). When you get to a new age, you then get to sit around and wait for that one to download. Unless Cyan has responded to early feedback about it (this was discussed on Cyan's forums a few months ago), there's no more "download all ages/updates at startup" option. As you play the game and visit new places, Uru's footprint on your drive will grow, grow, grow. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

It'd make sense for the starting age to be a neighbourhood. If the goal is to get us to the community faster, that'd certainly work.
Especially if they're going to make the free access area the 'hoods. If.
Oh man speculation, I missed this so much. _________________ KI: 34353 |

That makes sense, not only from a community stand point, from a storyline aspect as well. It seems they are focusing more on the DRC these days, and the funding they are receiving from Gametap. The original focus was Yeesha, and hence starting your Journey at the Cleft. It seems there is a shift to a focus on exploring through the DRC, and the new Ages they are providing, new areas they are opening, etc. If yer a new Explorer just down for the first time, but brought by the DRC, either the City or a hood makes sense.
Or some new Visitors Center in a new part of the City we haven't seen before! That's be cool, inside the Takotah or sumthin.
But then that raises the question of Relto books and how one obtains them... _________________

Okay, here's another question. How does one go about getting into UU? |
