As some of you have realized, there are a lot of Uru fans here in Seattle! We're long overdue for a party, and ever since Mysterium we've been having withdrawls from seeing our fellow explorers. It's time to get something organized and have a party before the summer is over!
The last time we had a Seattle Uru Get-Together was January 17, 2004. It was a simple event but it went very well! We met up at Desert Fire in Redmond for dinner. It was the perfect atmosphere for us, reminiscent of the New Mexico desert. ^_^
Any suggestions on what we could do this time? Here are some ideas:
· Disc Golf at Mineral Springs Park or Lakewood Park
· Picnic at one of the many parks or beaches (My vote is with Gas Works Park!)
· Hit up the Agua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club to rent some kayaks and go paddling... maybe catching some of their fantastic Mexican food when we're done.
· Go ice skating at the Lynnwood Ice Center (sounds good on a hot day)
· Take the Underground Seattle tour (I've been on it about four times already and can never get enough)
· Anyone got an open firepit? We can have an evening picnic and roast s'mores. :9
There's always the lovely cabana in Kev's and my condo community that we can use if it comes down to that (in Kirkland). (We even have a pool and jacuzzi!) Lemme know what suggestions you may have!
Also, when would be a good date for all interested parties? I know most of my weekends are pretty much booked from now until Labor Day weekend (with the exception of a few Sundays). Do people prefer a Saturday or a Sunday? August or September?
Here's a list of Uru fans that I know are in the Seattle area:
BladeLakem
Brian Fioca
Eleri
Kev
Kierra Windsong
Moiety Jean
Rils
Saxy
Treesa
Zardoz
(I know there's more; who am I missing?!)
Anyone from outside the Seattle area is more than welcomed, too, but I just don't want them to feel obligated to travel (again). _________________

Sweet! Sounds cool!
I'll have to think about the best place to have it... lots of those ideas sound great. _________________ #Brian Fioca

That wouldn't be a bad idea, either. I'd be up for that!
Oooh, tour of underground Seattle followed by a party at Brian and Jean's! _________________

FYI, there is an extensive disc golf course at Terrace Creek Park in Mountlake Terrace, and it's walking distance to our house
The other Uru nerds I know of in the area are Kierra Windsong (olympia), Zardoz, and Treesa. _________________

I heart Mountlake Terrace! That's pretty close to where Kev and I live. :3 _________________

They really need to get on writing linking books to Seattle... I'd keep one in my Relto. |

Very likely. Didn't know the D'ni for "big space needle-y type thing" so had to improvise. |

Maybe the D'ni word for "so many Starbucks that you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one" will work. |

I'm in, but I have no idea what dates I'm gone. I'm one of those annoying sorts who tends to look at his friends friday night and say "hey, whats we doin this weekend?" So I'd say go ahead and pick sumthin and I'll do my best to be there!
I'm currently at Green Lake in Seattle, moving to Ballard at the end of the month. So activities in and around downtown appeal to me. Paddling around from Agua Verde is a great idea, as is the underground tour. It's been, gosh, can't even count the years since I've done that! I've also heard there's a disc golf course by Northgate, anybody know anything about that?

Are you a native Seattlite, Rils?
Rils wrote: | I've also heard there's a disc golf course by Northgate, anybody know anything about that? |
Nope, but being a mild golf nut myself, I've been curious to play Disc Golf since I've learned what it was while I was at Mysterium. It sounds like a lot of fun!
Note to everyone: I was thinking of sometime in the middle of September. It seems like things start settling down around then.
We could have a main plan (i.e. Disc Golf/picnic/outdoor activity) and a contingency plan in case the weather is crummy (i.e. Underground Tour/Party @ Brian's and Jean's). _________________

erm, well, depends on how you define "native". I was born at an early age in northern California, but my family moved here when I was seven (gosh, that was over 20 years ago... holy crap, where does the time go?). I grew up in... err... Kent. Don't tell anyone though, lets just keep it between us. So yeah, except for four years of university in Canada and a summer in Maryland, I've always been a Seattle down home bruthah!

Not a bad idea, September is usually nice but you never know around here!
