The logs are here, organized by the date they're posted to the website rather than by the dates they actually occurred. They're also mixed in with other announcements:
http://www.thegreattree.com/tree/modules.php?name=Stories_Archive
Just separating the logs from the flotsam and putting them in chronological order would be a tremendous help. After that, we need to figure out what is significant (or not) about each log, i.e, "Sharper rousing dissent near DRC Tent"... and then it'll be easier to decide what we want to film and what isn't important.
No trimming needed - just identification and sorting. As I understand the plan, the Professor and Moiety Jean will trim as they adapt logs into scripts. And Gilligan will provide comedic relief.
(It's past midnight, I'm due at least one dumb joke centering around 'The Professor'.) _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Good, because I'm not very good at that. I'm only good at laughing at my own dumb jokes as evidenced by last weekend. *lol*
There I go again... and I didn't even make a joke. _________________

The two main areas I'd like to contribute on are:
- video postproduction (editing, titles, publishing, etc.)
- collaboration between our two groups
While working on scripts, let's assemble a paragraph or three synopsis of the events to put in the Explorers Guild history section. There we could also display/link to the videos at Great Tree.
My skype name is "adegkid" if we'd like to get some voicechat meetings going.
Cheers,

Could you elaborate a bit on the synopsis idea? I'm not sure I get it 100%. _________________ Professor Daniel Askew - Securing our reality from the machinations of the Station Masters. |

Instead of just a list of links titled "Episode 1" "Episode 2" "Episode 3", he wants a brief description of what will happen in each Episode. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I'm trying to categorize the chat logs because I haven't heard of any progress from anyone else on this matter. I've discovered at least one conflict that hopefully can be sorted out.
The following two chat logs purport to have occurred on the same day and at the same time, involve the same person (Phil Henderson), yet they relate different events. Therefore, at least one must have occurred at a different time or day. One log is by Brian, the other, by Farlesis (speaking of which, where is he these days?)

I wish I could be more help with the organization of the logs, but I just wasn't there for all the important conversations so I can't put them in chronological order.
When you're ready, though, put some logs in my hands and I'll work on turning them into scripts.
Are we going to be accurate to the letter about this, or shall I correct some grammar, spelling, and whatever else for clarity's sake? I'm assuming no artistic license will be used here. _________________ ~Moiety Jean

I wasn't there for these events either. I joined in January. So, I am going by Brian, Professor Askew, and Farlesis's notes on each chat log entry about when the event occurred. The only events in discrepancy appear to be two logs dated December 2nd. There is no log for December 3rd, so my guess is that we have a typo and one of the events occurred the next day. It would be nice to know which one. The only other situation where there's a clear overlap, we know there actually was an overlap (two things happened at once, in different places).
Edit: This list was originally full chronological order, but is now divided into "used" and "unused" segments to focus clarity on the content we intend to cover.
Here is the list; these are links to the logs on the website.
Episode Zero: The Beginning

Quote: | In the beginning of January Kam called a meeting for all interested people to attend including members of ‘Kinjo no Surudoi’, by the end of the meeting ‘Kinjo no Surudoi’ no longer existed and the Great Tree Neighbourhood had been created. No longer a private group it was open to everyone within the Cavern and spreading the message of the Great Tree and its symbolism became an important endeavour. |

December 10, 2003 8:24 PM Phil in Maverick Hood
December 18, 2003 9:00 PM Sharper & Fioca discuss Phil, GZ
The above log is mismarked as occuring on 12/14 at 9pm; it actually occurs on 12/18 around 5pm. Hm! Are chat log times specific to the person logging, or are they in cavern time?
December 18, 2003 4:48 PM Douglas Sharper in UO [unformatted - same as above, different person logging; overlapping] _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I was just reading over these. There are so many Subtleties that we need to point out, like when I was literally watching Doug take the journey from my KI (he went to Teledahn, Gahressen, the Eders, and Kadish, and to the Bahro Cave and Relto), and this rather telling conversation with Engberg:
Quote: |
Michael Engberg: Brian, I don't leak anything. Loose lips sink ships.
Brian Fioca: Interesting. So, you do have something to hide then?
Michael Engberg: It's just a saying.
Brian Fioca: I see. That it is.
Michael Engberg: Again, it’s just a saying.
Brian Fioca: Yup. You're right.
Michael Engberg: Brian, I will bring up the concern about giving more information out.
|
So many others, too. _________________ #Brian Fioca

Following episode one: the formation of the Great Tree group, the appearance of the Islands page, Sharper aligning with Phil, Sharper taking the Journey, Phil getting kidnapped, the explorers standing up to Dr. Watson, the sit-in, the opening of the egg rooms, breaking into the Kahlo pub (and the suspension of Sharper from the GT pub restoration) and finally Phil's accident.
How's that? Is that too much? Or too little? _________________ KI: 34353 |

The formation of the Great Tree group really started with the sit-in at the Uru Obsession 'hood, so, after the "Islands" event. And even then, it wasn't really the "Great Tree Neighborhood", but rather, Kam's "Kinjo no Surudoi" 'hood. It was replaced by the Great Tree at the start of January, after the events of all of the chat logs we have; if anyone has a chat log of the formal Great Tree 'hood creation meeting, that would be an appropriate chapter to add to this series.
For a good write up of how these events intertwined, see: the History of the Great Tree posted by Farlesis.
I'm editing the above list of chat logs to propose some divisions (incomplete at this time). It's a lot of material still, and so I think we may have to drop more pieces. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Ah, the one chatlog I'm in. Not too important, though, just going over stuff we already know.
Obviously Phil getting kidnapped is an important one. It could exist as its own self-contained episode. It would give us a chance to recreate something that everyone glimpsed from afar. It would also give us a chance to film in the city.
Cutting these three logs into a montage of unrest could be interesting. They're thematically similar, but they involve three different groups.
This log is the same as the Dec 14th one.
The Egg Room special!
I can't really think of anything that would go along with this.
If we had the log from the Kahlo pub, we could put this one at the tail end of it.
Obviously these could be self-contained. There's enough material there for a good lenght, some of which we don't have to film, thanks to those live videos. _________________ KI: 34353 |
